House Republican leaders abruptly pulled a Republican rewrite of the nations health-care system from consideration on Friday, a dramatic acknowledgment that they are so far unable to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
We just pulled it, President Trump told the Washington Post in a telephone interview.
The decision came a day after Trump delivered an ultimatum to lawmakers and represented multiple failures for the new president and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.).

Acosta on CNN advised that Trump called him personally on the record to get the news out.
He made it clear that they are not going to try another approach but will move on to other legislative priorites.

(53,061 posts)This was a reconciliation bill that would allow them to pass the Senate with only 51 votes because it is an amendment to the previous budget bill.
If they attach it to any other bill or if they start with stand alone legislation they will have to get 60 votes in the Senate, an impossible goal.

(15,220 posts)I don't trust Trump. This isn't the best link, but the story was on CNN earlier.
Please note the Acosta tweet is from earlier in the month.
Seems suspicious that Trump would go to Acosta, but who the heck knows what is going on.

(23,094 posts)After 7 years, they still haven't found a way to kill poor people, old folks and women and have them be happy about it.
I am worried, though, because asshole of the orange persuasion has already pulled all the taxes from the program, so how will it work now? Will it just run a bigger deficit, or will it have the effect of the insurance companies pulling out of the exchanges? My husband needs to sign up in 7 months and we really need a good affordable program to be available. We don't qualify for Medicaid, but don't make enough to pay sky high rates due to his chronic health condition. At least he will have been covered the whole time, since I've been carrying insurance for the family through my job.

(5,240 posts)removal of the funds meant to deal with the expected initial rise in premiums and 45s signing orders. Will the ACA survive? If the ACA ends up imploding the dems will be blamed and 2018 might not look too good. What if it was the plan all along to put up a bill that would never be enacted so they can set up the ACA to fail?
