AN NYPD sergeant who raped and sexually abused a 13-year-old girl scored a soft sentence Monday of only three years in prison just a year for each attack.

Vladimir Krull, a 12-year veteran of the department assigned to the Midtown North Precinct, had also served as a Marine in Iraq. The three ghastly attacks on the teen took place in 2013 and 2014. The victim was the daughter of Krulls then-girlfriend.

Bronx prosecutors said he first kissed her on the mouth in September 2013 then proceeded to abuse her further. The abuse escalated and he raped the victim in her home and in his car during two separate incidents, jurors found.

Krull, 39, was also convicted of making the victim perform a sex act on him in his car in June 2014 after a father-daughter breakfast for her eighth-grade class. A spokeswoman for Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark confirmed that Supreme Court Justice Lester Adler had sentenced Krull to just three years for each incident of abuse, which will run concurrently.

And should serve more time than 3 yrs, how long a sexual offender is in the database depends on what level they're given per this...

The court may assign one of the following three risk levels:
Level 1 (low risk of repeat offense), or
Level 2 (moderate risk of repeat offense), or
Level 3 (high risk of repeat offense and a threat to public safety exists).

The only reason I know about this is one of my daughter's was curious about the levels she saw when checking the database (she has 4 little girls so keeps tabs on her local area) and told me about it.

If he had raped a boy he would be in for "at least" 20 years. Females are becoming less and less in this administration.

21. This whole thing is despicable of course but I really don't think what you say ... is true ...

Little boys don't seem better protected from rape than little girls legally ... at least not from any evidence I've ever seen.

In fact it seems generally the opposite to me, esp. if the adult in the situation ... is female.

Not trying to pick a fight or a gender war scenario, but I've just never seen ... what you're talking about. Old men raping young girls I think statistically get the longest sentences of the 4 'possible combinations ... '

Just out of curiosity, is this a 'literal rape' conviction, or a 'statutory rape' conviction?

I realize many would argue in this scenario it's irrelevant and there's a VERY valid point to be made there, no doubt ... I'm just asking 'legally' here ... because it seems SO FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS ... that the only POSSIBLE 'excuse' ... is that the girl testified that she consented. NOT THAT IT SHOULD MATTER WHEN YOUR 13 FFS and it's your stepdad!

22. This shocking sentence is in the NY Times, on cable news, etc.

Maximum sentence would apparently have been 15 to 21 years. Charges did not include any crimes committed as a police officer, although allegations included that. No idea what the jury had to consider when convicting him, but his attorney says there is no evidence, including no DNA evidence, nothing but the girl's charges.
