A White House press release commending Exxon for its $20 billion investment program contains a paragraph almost identical to a paragraph in the companys press release.
The president today applauded the Growing the Gulf expansion program from ExxonMobilwhose CEO was up until recently Secretary of State Rex Tillersonand had this to say on Twitter:
-snip-
However, as first flagged by Washington Post reporter Christopher Ingraham, this paragraph from the ExxonMobil press release
-snip-
is almost identical to this paragraph from the White House press release, which does not give direct attribution to the Exxon statement:

An unnamed WH official gave this explanation to reporters for CNN and NBC: The expansion program has many different components to it, and we went straight to the source for some of our information.
Yes, it always helps to let Exxon write part of its own commercials sent out via the WH.

I guess he didn't go straight to the source. He also misspelled principles as principals in the first tweet. a mistake still uncorrected hours later. Good thing the WH staff hadn't counted on Trump to try to copy that longer paragraph they plagiarized.
LOL. I have to edit to post the new link for the first tweet from Trump listed above:

The WH staff finally noticed and corrected the typo this evening.

(1,129 posts)I wonder if this $ 20bn investment will be used to develop the 20 Gulf Coast blocks that Rosneft has 30% of......
Exxon gave them 30% interest back in 2011/12 before the sanctions :
Rosneft + Exxon = Strategic Cooperation Agreement
Explore/Exploit Arctic & Black Sea
* Rosneft subsidiary gets 30% equity in Exxon's La Escalera Ranch project in W.Texas
* Rosneft gets rights to acquire 30% of Exxon Holdings (20 blocks) in Gulf of Mexico
* Rosneft subsidiary RNCardium oil acquires 30% of Exxon's stake in Canada -- Cardium formation to develop tar sands reserve
