President Donald Trump insisted Thursday that the leaks coming from his administration are real but the reporting based on that information is "fake." He also complained that he does not deserve the media's "hatred" because he is "really not a bad person."

"The leaks are absolutely real," Trump said during a press conference. "The news is fake, because so much of the news is fake."

"If the information coming from those leaks is real, then how can the stories be fake?" a reporter pressed.

"The reporting is fake," Trump insisted. "Here's the thing, the public isn't — you know, they read newspapers, they see television, they watch. They don't know if it's true or false because they're not involved. I'm involved."

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that "Russia is fake news" and insisted that he has no business connections in that country.

Trump appeared to be responding to a Tuesday report from the New York Times that members of his campaign staff made repeated contact with Russian officials before the 2016 election.

"Russia is fake news. Russia — this is fake news put out by the media," Trump told reporters at a press conference.

"Speaking for myself, I own nothing in Russia. I have no loans in Russia. I don't have any deals in Russia," he said.
