Dangerous Refugees Flooded U.S. After Lifting of Ban, Trump Says

Source: MSN/NY Times

JUPITER, Fla. — President Trump said on Saturday that judicial decisions that halted his executive order banning travel from seven predominantly Muslim countries had allowed a flood of “dangerous” refugees to pour into the country.

“Our legal system is broken!” Mr. Trump wrote in a Twitter posting a day after he said that he was considering a wholesale rewriting of the executive order to circumvent legal hurdles quickly but had not ruled out appealing the major defeat he suffered in a federal appeals court on Thursday. “SO DANGEROUS!” the president added.

Mr. Trump cited a report in The Washington Times that asserted that 77 percent of the refugees who entered the United States since Judge James L. Robart of Federal District Court in Seattle blocked the order on Feb. 3 had been from the seven “suspect countries.”

Still, his allusion to a rush of dangerous refugees is somewhat misleading. According to an analysis of data maintained by the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center, the percentage of refugees arriving from those countries — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — has risen considerably since the directive was suspended, but the weekly total of refugees arriving from the targeted countries has risen by only about 100. And all are stringently vetted.

Once again attacking the foundations of our democracy and the separation of powers while also continuing to spread hate. It is uncanny the degree to which he is acting like a 1930s fascist.

By now, Trump has told so many lies, and surrounded himself with so many people who lie continually, that no one is ever going to believe him again. If something ever DOES happen - perish the thought! - people will be like, "well Don, we stopped believing you sometime during the campaign." People expect politicians to lie, but this asshole goes past "typical politics" into pathology.

Since the judge blocked the ban, 1,049 of the 1,462 refugees who have arrived in the United States, or 72 percent, were from the seven countries affected. In Mr. Trump’s first week of office, before he issued his order, more refugees arrived, 2,108, and 935 of them, representing 44 percent, were from those seven nations.

The figures suggest that the State Department and refugee resettlement agencies, which meet weekly to determine which individuals and families to admit to the United States, may be stepping up their efforts to help refugees from the seven countries.

27. Breakdown of numbers
Sun Feb 12, 2017, 05:40 PM
Feb 2017

Apparently Trump got his numbers from a graphic on Fox News:

which sourced the data to here:

http://ireports.wrapsnet.org/

The aggregate numbers seem to line up, but can be broken down into more detail which are much more interesting, such as by nationality, religion and gender:

Afghanistan 11
Bangladesh 1
Bhutan 48
Burma 43
China 1
Dem. Rep. Congo 97
El Salvador 23
Eritria 20
Ethiopia 11
Honduras 3
Iran 115 (49 of them were Christian and 13 Protestant, 14 under 14 yo, 60 female, 46 males 14+ yo )
Iraq 340 (46 Catholic, 8 Christian, 110 under 14 yo, 182 female, 230 males 14+ yo)
Pakistan 12
Palestine 2
Rep. of South Sudan 6 (all Catholic)
Somalia 155 (61 under 14 yo, 97 female, 30 males 14+ yo)
Sudan 37
Syria 402 (183 are under 14 yo and 197 are female, 105 males 14+ yo)
Uganda 4
Ukraine 127
Vietnam 4

I didn't check to see if these breakdowns were typical of the weeks prior to the stay of the EO, but I like to see more context when numbers are thrown around. Strange how Trump mentions Yemen and Libya when even Fox News shows 0 refugees in that time frame from those countries.

Yet they were allowed entry anyway?

If there is actionable intelligence to prevent entry, I don't fee there is a soul willing to put up a conflict in defiance of intelligence.

You just cannot place a blanket ban in a manner in which it was previously enacted.

So, the question again is; if you know for a FACT that dangerous individuals were allowed entry, why was no effort made to stop THOSE individuals?

Are setting up your own LIHOP?

I'ts not uncanny, it's planned. He studied Hitler for years and years and is now emulating the same steps Hitler took so he can demote the courts snd take 100% power and bring in the 4th Reich, Trumpland. He's probably already planning his Reichstag Fire, and will use that as an excuse to suspend the constitution and the judiciiary. At that point, we are totally fucked since he has the tanks. Wonder if there will be some brave commanders in the military who would stand up for us?
