Lieberman, Introducing DeVos, Fails To Disclose That His Law Firm Represents Trump
Source: Huffington Post
Former Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) tonight introduced Donald Trumps controversial nominee for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, to the Senate HELP Committee. Lieberman lavishly praised DeVos, but failed to inform the American people that his law firm, Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP, have represented Trump in all manner of matters since at least 2001. Such matters have included, but are certainly not limited to, the restructuring of $1.3 billion in bondholder debt connected to his Atlantic City casinos; a defamation case filed against the author of TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald, for stating that the businessman was worth between $150 million and $250 million, not billions (a suit that Trump later lost); and the fight to keep filings from his 1990 divorce from ex-wife Ivana Trump sealed.
Most recently, Liebermans law firm represented Trump by threatening the New York Times for publishing pieces of Trumps tax return.
...
Joe Liebermans invocation of his Democratic Party credentials to endorse DeVos, without mentioning out loud to the American people that his law firm has long worked for Trump, is yet another piece of the deep corruption Trump is bringing to Washington.

The hypocrisy and lack of ethics surrounding Trump is breathtaking. The hypocrisy and lack of ethics surrounding today's GOP Congress is both depressing and, at the same time, terrifying.

(64,982 posts)nominee of his own personal party (Connecticut for Lieberman), established for the sole purpose of providing him with a party to be the nominee of. He caucused with the Dems in the 110th Congress, but he was an Independent by then, not a Democrat.
(I mention this because the article starts off identifying Lieberman as a Democrat, which makes his support of DeVos seem bipartisan.)

(3,569 posts)Why don't the Dems push him out? Run someone against him in the same party? As long as there are assholes like Joe Lieberman claiming to be Deocrats, the party will not represent my ideals.

(1,105 posts)Aaaarrrgghhh, I guess we are actually experiencing the Apocalypse. Interesting about that word, most people have a vision of it as a horrible thing as in a post apocalyptic world; horrible, a landscape of craters, filled with AI machines and zombies.
The word comes from the Greek, (Ancient Greek: ἀ???ά????? apokálypsis, from ἀ?ό and ???ύ???, literally meaning "an uncovering" is a disclosure of knowledge or revelation.
Boy howdy is that happening. Have I mentioned how much I really don't care for Weasel Boy.
