Wall St. opens lower on Trump's disappointing speech

U.S. stocks opened lower on Thursday after President-elect Donald Trump gave little clarity on his promises of boosting economic growth that had powered a record-breaking rally on Wall Street for two months.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was down 61.62 points, or 0.31 percent, at 19,892.66, the S&P 500 .SPX was lower 6.99 points, or 0.31 percent, at 2,268.33 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was off 24.15 points, or 0.43 percent, at 5,539.50.

(6,931 posts)But....the fact that the DOW is even up one damn day after his win is BS seeing how he promised for months to impose a 35% tariff (tax) on goods brought back over the border. He even pimped it days after his win. Trust me Wall St. doesn't go nuts on a buying spree on that kind of business news.
So...he told someone,who told someone else to let it be known on Wall St. that tariff was just more campaign LIES and BS to get the lemmings vote. He has ZERO intention of hitting ANY company with that tariff.

(128,842 posts)It was the bullshit media that manufactured a fake attribution of said rally to Drumpf rather than to typical year-end reshuffling. The self same "media" ignored that the Dow went from a low of ~6000 in 2009, to where it is today closing on 20,000 while NOT under Drumpf.
The bigger issue is that the markets are well overdue for a 10% (~1900 points for the Dow) correction.
