Obamacare is one step closer to repeal after Senate advances budget resolution

Source: washington Post

<The Senate voted 51 to 48 early Thursday morning to approve a budget resolution instructing House and Senate committees to begin work on legislation to repeal major portions of the Affordable Care Act. The House is expected to take up the legislation Friday.

Senate Democrats made a late-night show of resistance against gutting the Affordable Care Act by forcing Republicans to take politically charged votes against protecting Medicare, Medicaid and other health-care programs. The measure narrowly passed without the support of any Democrats.

The hours-long act of protest culminated in the early hours of Thursday when Democrats made a dramatic display of rising to speak out against the repeal measure as they cast their votes. The Democrats continued to record their opposition over their objections of Senate Republicans.>

<Republicans blocked six amendments from Democrats within the first several hours of voting. Among the failed measures was an attempt to prevent any changes to Medicare or Medicaid, or to reduce the number of people enrolled in private health insurance.>

They have oil deals with Russia to take care of.

Yes, it baffles me that Republicans don't want even children to have health insurance, but CHIP is a Clinton plan and they are against all things Clinton.

Democrats brought us Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, CHIP, and PPACA. Republicans are against all these programs and would gladly cut their funding to weaken them.

There are probably many children of Trumpers on CHIP. Those Trumpers don't know that socialism is what gives their children much needed medical treatments.

I really don't think they want to get rid of Obamacare, not now that their slackjawed constituency is starting to realize that Obamacare = the ACA.

"Instructing committees to begin work on legislation" sounds like "faff about" to me.

They're just covering their asses so they can say, to those who are still utterly without a clue, that they tried.

(I sure hope I'm right....)

they will probably use this to say "see we kept our word" while then enacting almost everything that was in the ACA under a new name and claiming to hold their other promise.
Of course knowing the Republicans also there will be a poison pill attached to it such as cutting SS and medicare.

All of it. None of this exceptions for kids under 26, or pre-exisiting conditions crap. Americans have to FEEL the pain they just voted for.

Clay County, KY is one of the most dependent counties in Kentucky on Obamacare. Huge unemployment, 38% in poverty and 60% on Medicare. 77% of that county voted for Trump. 77%!!!! OBVIOUSLY, that is what they want! So give it to them.

Worried about those "soshilust!" black-lung disability checks that come every month keeping a roof over your head, food, clothing, and utilities? Well, here's the worry come real. At your request.

You too, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, N. Carolina, Ohio, Penn.....

And I'd put billboards up in all those counties letting them know they got what they voted for. Freedumb!!!

I wonder when we'll start to see the first "Miss me, yet?" billboards with Obama's face on them...?
