3. Classic Corporate Welfare

Thx for posting.

This is the classic example of corporate welfare: existing wealthy people who don't
need government largesse get it anyway, because "that's how its done".

wondering if the GrowNJ program is giving $40 Million to help start small, minority run
businesses?

"boosted hopes of local officials that new businesses will develop along Route 130".

and? what sort of "jobs" will be created here? $12 per hour warehouse, low-skilled
assembly work? this is small potatos.. not worth the $40 million dollar giveaway.

Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation is a American national department ... In 2006, it was acquired by Bain Capital, LLC in a take-private transaction.

God Bless The Child Lyrics

Billie Holiday God Bless The Child Lyrics

Songwriters: BILLIE HOLIDAY, ARTHUR HERZOG JR.
Billie Holiday / Arthur Herzog Jr.

Them that's got shall get
Them that's not shall lose
So the Bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own

Yes, the strong gets more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own

Money, you've got lots of friends
Crowding round the door
When you're gone, spending ends
They don't come no more
Rich relations give
Crust of bread and such
You can help yourself
But don't take too much
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own

Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
He just worry 'bout nothin'
Cause he's got his own

My son has worked p/t at one of their retail stores for over two years and has received one $.15 raise. His hourly wage is now around $8.00 and he works enough to be just short of full time. Sound familiar?

BTW, $40,000,000 for 120 jobs is over $333,000 per job...

We all know that most of these retail jobs stink, but in this economy there aren't that many good jobs period.

21. I'm not apologizing for these vultures.

But the reality is that at the moment we need to keep all the jobs that we can. It's no news that most of these types of jobs suck, I remember working for Macy's once during the holidays. We worked like dogs for not much pay. I see that nothing has changed.

they're bringing to our localities...

methinks there are wee kickbacks for the local politicos included in a lot of these deals.

15. I live in NJ and have a Burlington Coat factory in my town.

Thank you Governor for keeping jobs in the state. I'm no fan of Christie's, but that's precisely what governors are supposed to do: try to keep jobs in their state.

BTW, NYC has been doing this for many years.

That's just a distraction used by our side.

NYC has been giving millions of dollars in tax breaks and other goodies to many businesses to keep them in the city. I don't particularly like Christie, but he's not doing anything that other governors won't do to keep jobs in their state.

25. I get it.

The problem is that this is done by both parties, that's why it doesn't shock me. If Christie is going to be running around the country campaigning for Mittens, let the state at least get something out of it. I read the article and the Burlington headquarters employ over 600 people, plus the 130 that they are planning to hire in the future. I know that this stinks like 3 day old fish, but it disturbs me less than some other things that are going on in the country.

people? That would result in jobs too, jobs for people to help one another progress beyond just working for minimum wage for BCF, to progress into becoming LOCAL entrepreneurs themselves, perhaps.

18. surveillance state for humans vs. corporate ownership anonymity

It seems one of the primary purposes of corporate structures is to conceal ownership. This ownership is not concealed from certain government agencies, with all the filed paperwork required, etc., just from everyday consumers who may patronize the stores. However, that alias is used in court cases, etc, which sets up another difference from humans.

Shouldn't humans have the same ability to conceal their true identity? Our growing surveillance state emphatically says "No."

If humans are required to disclose their true identity, such as presenting a state-issued ID upon demand, then shouldn't corporations be required to take the name of their parent company, instead of being allowed to keep the prior name of the now-purchased entity?

35. Look at where the top of the high-range is; that cut out has to happen because at some point in that

range upward, the extent to which the incomes being produced are ir-retrievably DEPENDENT upon the incomes ABOVE them is a given. So, thinking of a spectrum here, how high:low is that shift point? I think this is what PO has been trying to figure out from the beginning and why, therefore, the Oppressor knows he is such a threat and, hence, why Congress is what it is.

The whole fucking thing is upside down, because of what has happened to American Labor.

the deficit (other than government spending), the Balance of Trade, and it's our hottest commodity because of what people like Mitt Romney have done to American Labor.

I believe the Oppressor is trying to weaken the American dollar for advantage in the world financial hegemony, all of whom are holding debts against one another because of the Derivative Crash of '08.

besides bad quality (despite ads to the otherwise) they sell Dog Fur accessories. Yuck yuck from China.

It was printed in one of their labels by accident once and a little investigation found why it is so cheap to get fur collars on your coats there.

The dog fur scandal I remember happened in the 1990's, seems there was another one in 2009 where the company was shocked! shocked, I tell you! and recalled the coats. They ended up donating money to animal preservation, but I am not convinced, how many times do they have to be caught?

If anything is spelled wrong, I blame cutting my index finger and having a huge bloody bandaid on it.
