Shannon Heath Bell of Flomaton, Ala. is facing charges for illegal deer hunting that led to the death of Donna Loraine Martin, 35.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reports that at roughly 6 p.m. Friday, the pair were hunting from a pickup truck in Escambia County. When Bell pulled a rifle out of the vehicle, it discharged, shooting Bell in the stomach. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died in surgery.
The charges stem from Bell hunting at night from a public road, and from a motor vehicle without a permit.
"Any hunting accident is a tragedy," ADCNR enforcement officer David Smith told AL.com. "But when the parties know each other, it can be particularly difficult for both families."

(3,580 posts)I love how people think hunting deaths are tragic accidents when they are caused by people doing stupid things. To me an accident is something completely unpredictable, like a cow falling through the roof of your car while you drive to work on the interstate.
This really happened, a livestock trailer full of cows jackknifed on an over pass & cows came flying out landing on one poor guys car. That's an accident.
