Georgia still using hackable electronic voting machines

Source: Action NewsJax

Touch-screen electronic voting machines were purchased all across the country after the vote counting problems in Florida during the 2000 presidential election.

Florida is now moving away from those machines, but many states have not.

Georgia is one of the only states in the country to exclusively use touch-screen electronic voting machines at every polling place.

It is those machines that critics said are especially vulnerable to hackers.

After a quick Google search, Action News Jax found an electronic voting machine that is similar to what will be used at Georgia polling places.

For $99, it was shipped directly to us. We packed it up and hit the road to Princeton University, where we met computer science professor Andrew Appel.

“This particular machine is the most hackable of all,” Appel said. “And it's because you can hack them without even touching them.”

1. So EVERY county in Georgia uses these machines...

How in the world is that possible in this day and age?

2. For the same reason that Trump is the Republican nominee

because the Republicans secretly don't believe in democracy and are only in the game at all because they are lying and cheating in every conceivable way in order to get elected and remain in office.

But as for the voting machines and the Democrats, there's some kind of disconnect between Dem leaders and the average Dem voter. Out in the hinterland there are multitudes of folks who realize that these machines are "trivially easy" to hack or rig and because THE VOTE IS NEVER VERIFIED or in many many cases ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO VERIFY, the results can never be trusted and when the results stink to high heaven at you that something's wrong here, SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY WRONG HERE AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.

What needs to be changed? Two possibilities I think: either use HAND-COUNTED PAPER BALLOTS or if you just can't abide geting rid of these lovely pieces of junk and not spending massive amounts of money on the machines USE ONLY OPTI-SCANS AND REQUIRE AT LEAST 5% OF THE VOTE BE AUDITED IN EVERY ELECTION AND IF ANOMALIES ARE FOUND REQUIRE A COMPLETE HAND RECOUNT OF THE PAPER BALLOTS.

I believe that most people in Europe have trashed the machines. Ireland sold them for junk metal when they trashed theirs. Germany outlawed their use in 2009 after a long court case.

3. GA was 1st in USA to purchase & use 100% touchscreen machines

thanks to the then Democratic Secretary of State, Cathy Cox. She later made an unsuccessful run for the Democratic party for governor. (Hint Cathy: Diebold is not a Democrat's friend.)

I met with Cathy Cox when I was lobbying her regarding a professional licensure issue in GA. {SoS) is in charge of licensure.) She was no Max Cleland, who was our previous SoS.

She sold us out. I'll never forgive her for that.

100% Diebold allowed that evil SOB, Saxby Chambliss, to steal the senatorial election from Max Cleland.

4. +1

I met her while in law school. She was smart and articulate, but she definitely made an error when she backed buying voting machines from a company whose CEO vowed to do everything within his power to help George Bush beat John Kerry in 2004.

5. Yep, Kerry And Cleland Were Robbed

We were too. They both lost by virtually the same margin they were shown to be ahead by in about every poll. Other recent elections have had more than curious results.

Add that to what happened in Florida 2000. Dire consequences ensued from that cluster you know what that stole the election from Gore....in a state where Dubya's brother was governor and his state campaign director was the head election official.

We need to move to paper ballots with foolproof witnessed video taped custody and counting with impartial foreign observers.

6. Anybody still got a copy of the "robgeorgia" file?

Don't have time to post the whole history but I'm still banned from a couple of places due to publishing it.
