Youth pastor arrested at church after admitting he impregnated a 15-year-old, police say

A youth pastor at a rural Pennsylvania church has been fired and arrested on statutory sexual assault charges after police said he admitted to impregnating a 15-year-old girl, according to the Associated Press.

Police said the youth pastor, 35-year-old Wesley Blackburn, told his wife he was having an affair with the girl and that he wanted a divorce, the AP reported.

Distraught, Blackburn’s wife reportedly turned to Jim Espenshade, the senior pastor of Faith Brethren Bible Church in New Paris, Pa., about 100 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

. . .

As of Friday, Blackburn remained in the Bedford County jail unable to post bond on one count of corruption of minors and 84 counts each of statutory sexual assault and indecent assault, the AP reported.

A pastor wanted to keep kids away from his church. So he threatened to shoot them, police say.

October 14 

A pastor in Indiana has been charged with felony intimidation after he told two children he would shoot them if they didn’t stay away from his church, police say.

The incident took place Monday evening, when police said a brother and sister were riding their bicycles past Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle, about 50 miles east of Indianapolis, the Star Press reported.

Bobby Slagle, a 69-year-old pastor at the church, raised his shirt so that the children could see a .38-caliber revolver tucked in his waistband, police said.

He reportedly “advised the kids that if they did not get off his property, he was going to shoot them,” according to the Associated Press.

Man shot to death by fellow parishioner during hymns was ‘only armed with his Bible,’ police say

By Elahe Izadi

An argument about seats during a church service near Philadelphia ended with two gunshots and a dead parishioner, according to authorities.

Mark Storms has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment in the fatal April 24 shooting of a fellow churchgoer, Robert Braxton III, at Keystone Fellowship Church in North Wales, Pa.

. . .

Storms, 46, had a concealed-carry permit, which he showed to Braxton during the argument, police said.

“It is clear the shooter brought a gun to a crowded church, he introduced that gun into a verbal altercation that turned into a fistfight and then fired the gun twice, aiming at the vital part of the body, killing the victim,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said, the Associated Press reported.

Too many stories of church leaders covering up this sort of thing.

Glad the leadership group at this church did the right thing.
