Dara Torres has come up short in her bid to make it to the Olympics for a sixth time. The 45-year-old Torres finished fourth in the final of the 50-meter freestyle Monday night, her only event at the U.S. swimming trials. After winning three silver medals at the Beijing Olympics, Torres underwent radical knee surgery and put all her hopes into one event. But Jessica Hardy captured the one-lap sprint, touching in 24.50 seconds. Kara Lynn Joyce took the other Olympic spot in 24.73, followed by Christine Magnuson (24.78) and Torres (24.82). Torres lingered in the water after all the other swimmers had climbed out. Then, she walked around the deck and scooped up her young daughter, who was wearing a green shirt that said "Go Mom." 2. Spoilers in thread titles.

I guess we're all just gonna have to not visit DU at all for the duration of the Olympics. Fucking hell.

3. It's LBN. Posters are required to post actual article headlines

The OP is just following the rules.

4. Two problems
|
That isn't the article's headline, and it isn't necessary to post it at all. Spoilers help no one and have the potential to harm many. There's no upside to it.

5. Yeah, you might want to do that
|
or better yet avoid the Internet entirely; stay away from forums, Twitter, Facebook, news sites, etc. (And the headline does in fact say "misses out on 6th Olympic team").

6. Since a lot of events will be over before West Coast DUers even wake up...
|
I'm not keeping my blinders on until whatever network decides to air them.
