Trump closes in on Clinton's projected electoral lead

Source: Reuters

Republican Donald Trump appears to have carved out a wider path to the White House as a number of states including Florida and Ohio are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday.

The project, which combines opinion polls with an analysis of voting patterns under different election scenarios, still shows Clinton would have the best chance of winning the presidency if the November 8 election were held today. Yet Trump has caught up to her level of support in several states.

Clinton now has an 83 percent chance of winning the election by an average of 47 votes in the Electoral College, the body that ultimately selects the president. In late August, the States of the Nation estimated that Clinton had a 95 percent chance of winning by an average of 108 electoral votes.

The number of states projected for Clinton has dropped over the past few weeks. Two of those states, Ohio and Florida, were considered likely wins for Clinton in late August. Now the candidates are about even in support. Five more states, including Michigan and North Carolina are also up for grabs.

Give Trump a free pass on his lies and racism, then spend all your time talking about e-mail management as though Hillary was interviewing for Chief Information Officer at Google, and it is totally possible for Trump to win.

If Trump wins they may just show a videoclip of one of the Duck Dynasty episodes.

win the election. Nate has been off once in a while but not often. And his site is a thorough, thoughtful, and detail-based place.

There are other ways to gauge the state of the electorate, such as joining Karl Rove, who is likely still trying to uncover hidden Romney votes in Ohio as we speak.

There's been a tightening in the polls since Labor Day, but we're not even half-through September yet. Over the long haul of the weeks between now and November 8, it does feel to me that the far greater odds fall with the candidate with the most field offices, the best state- and nationwide organizations, and the most hard cash to keep the wheels oiled and turning.

One candidate has these things at her disposal. The other doesn't.

would anyone do if Trump won? The whole world would be upside down
and churning as if attached by a Giant Eggbeater

Nothing would survive. Total nihilism as far as laws and the status quo
are concerned. Nothing like it in all of history.

With their assurance to return to civilian rule in 1 year.

A nuclear holocaust must be prevented at all cost.

The military takes a pledge to defend the Constitution, and they just may have to do it.

Trump would create one constitutional crisis after another. Power figures would have to decide if they are going along or defecting / committing mutiny. Even a military coup is possible.

I'm sure she talks about policy a lot but the media doesn't mention it. Of course I don't watch TV and pretty much ignore MSM and get most of my information on the internet. Mainly from places like DU.
