Islam terror group tells Christians: Leave north Nigeria or be attacked

Christians have been warned by a militant Islamist group to leave northern Nigeria or be attacked, according to media reports.

Abul Qaqa, a purported spokesman for Boko Haram, said the terror group was “giving a three-day ultimatum to the southerners living in the northern part of Nigeria to move away”, the English language Vanguard newspaper reported.

The group has been linked to many attacks on Christians, most notably the bombings on Christmas Day killed 49 people, most of them at a Catholic church as services were ending.

Nigeria’s 160 million people are divided between the mainly Muslim north and predominately Christian south.

8. Not exactly the full story

The Northerners for a coupe of years were complaining about the tainted vaccines they were recieving. The agency(I think it was a WHO and Federal department of health joint effort) responsible did nothing but dismiss their complaints. Healthy kids were accidentally infected with polio and many other died because of it. WHO admitted only when the evidence was presented to them.

I dont like all the fear about vaccines but if anybody has the right to fear vaccines, it is these people. Somehow, us southerns did not experience the problems they did and things like this is what causes the mistrust between the 2 sides. These stories are more complicated than you think, and even the muslim nort would do everything in their power to protect their own kids especially from polio.

I would imagine then that the 1961 plebiscite, the Civil War, over 30 years of military rule, minimal health care, low birth rate, sectarian violence, and the confraternities have quite a bit to do with it also.

10. Don't bother with being rational

There are those on both the right and left that think nothing gets done in any corner of the world without the being the result of something the US has done or said. No country is allowed to think for themselves and rather than condemn the fanatics who are making these threats they just use it as another excuse to bash the US - it's as predictable as it is boring.

I imagine many people live in areas where they are not welcome-- I see rather a lot of that in the smaller suburbs of North Texas.

Or did you simply presume that the story is about missionary work rather than the indigenous peoples and the religions they follow?
