Hated seeing this because those waging a war on marijuana will try and use it to take it away ( I would never give her "street drugs" so if we didn't have legal dispensaries (with Dr. rec) here in CA I would probably have to move because my only alternatives are pretty toxic (risperdal, xanax, calexa all which she was prescribed are sitting in my medicine chest - the side effects to all of them are huge, she has had none with the 420 and the best thing is, on good days she doesn't need it. The others, you can't miss a dose without withdrawal symptoms, the MJ, she goes a whole week without it sometimes.

I've often wondered if he could benefit from mmj for some of the perseveration, anxiety and the physiological issue of gastrointestinal problems that are common among those with aspergers. MMJ with high levels of CBD has shown great results for people with IBD, IBS, and Crohn's disease because of the anti-inflammatory and immune system modulation - b/c humans have a lot of cannabinoid receptors in the GI system.

but my son is very "by the book" and would never consider doing anything illegal. And, b/c it's illegal, I would never suggest it. Which is why it infuriates me that the simple fate of geography can prevent my son from trying an herb to see if it could greatly improve the quality of his life.

I wonder if the reasons people with autism find help is the same reason that people with epilepsy, MS and CP find that mmj stops seizures and spasticity? Before my son was dx'd with aspergers, the doctors thought he was having complex-partial seizures.

My doctor had me on Xanax for insomnia & depression for approximately 45 days.

I hated the drug and suspended taking it. My doctor did not warn me of withdrawal symptoms. If you've become addicted to Xanax, sudden cessation can cause extreme paranoid psychosis with horribly intense hallucinations.

I was arrested for attacking an empty school-bus with my bare hands. I was covered in blood from climbing fences, et al. I was clothed only in gym shorts & T-shirt. No ID. No shoes and my feet were a bloody mess. County hospital found no drugs in my system other than cannabis.

A detective asked me to agree to detox hospitalization during one of my lucid moments and I agreed. 24 hours later I was released (without charges) because the doctor on staff recognized my symptoms and the withdrawal had run its course.

The entire episode lasted 2 weeks before it became so intense that I was arrested. I can't comment specifically on the symptoms because what memories I have are too painful.

I'm not saying that this is what the "cannibal" experienced but it is possible. I was very lucky that I did not become combative with the cops, or the outcome for me could have been lethal.

Xanax is one of those most-abused gifts from Big Pharma and is extremely dangerous.

BTW, I'd also been prescribed Ambien prior to the Xanax and had quit taking it because of the sleep-walking and being unable to recall what I'd done during the sleep-walking.

Drugs, legal and illegal, alter brain chemistry. Going back to "normal" can be just as shocking to the system and disruptive to the brain as taking a new drug.

I know very very few people these days who would buy into marijuana having anything to do with a man eating another person's face. In fact, it would probably backfire by making anyone claiming such a thing look particularly idiotic.
