Embattled DNC Chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz Won't Speak at Convention
Source: MSNBC
PHILADELPHIA Embattled Democratic National Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will not address the convention as planned when it begins Monday afternoon, Hillary Clinton's campaign confirmed to NBC News.
In an interview with the Sun-Sentinel she said: "I have decided that in the interest of making sure that we can start the Democratic convention on a high note that I am not going to gavel in the convention."
The anger over leaked emails showing DNC officials plotting against the primary campaign of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders boiled over Monday as Wasserman Schultz was greeted by boos and jeers at her home state's breakfast meeting. Later, Bernie Sanders spoke to a raucous crowd of delegates supporting his candidacy which reacted with boos when he urged them to support Clinton's election this fall.
At this morning's breakfast, dozens of people sporting shirts and pins in support of Sanders booed, yelled and waved signs as Wasserman Schultz attempted to speak to the Florida Delegation at Philadelphia's Downtown Marriott hotel.
"Tim Canova!" some chanted, referring to the chairwoman's congressional Democratic primary challenger in her Florida district.

(1,727 posts)her ass after she botched three straight election cycles. She only kept the position because she threatened to have her allies accuse the sitting Democratic President of being a sexist and an anti-Semite.
It's mind-boggling how you people have managed to turn this incompetent corporate shill, who'll throw other Democrats under the bus and work with Republicans in a heartbeat into some kind of martyr.
The worst part is that if and when the party fails in the upcoming election, you're actually going to blame the people who want reform and fair representation instead of the corrupt actors in the party.

(5,248 posts)It looks like payoff for what DWS did to help Hillary. She doesn't need the republicans help, she can make herself look bad without it.

(194 posts)Not only did Hillary allow DWS to resign after the convention. Not only does she allow her to have that disastrous appearance before the FL delegates this morning. Not only does she send out a press release that she would hire her as a surrogate and honorary chairman as part of her campaign. But it would have been political malpractice and distract from the amazing speakers we have scheduled tonight. Bernie's own delegates just booed Bernie for even mentioning Hillary and Kaine. That's why I was disgusted she didn't pick someone like Elizabeth Warren, because the liberal wing of our party needs something to motivate them to vote, and honestly so do I.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. The OP will be edited when there is on-line confirmation.

(1,685 posts)She's probably done great work, but it's time to go. And as for the DNC favoring a candidate, that's been happening for years. It's what happens in a political party. It's not completely democratic and it likely never will be.
Still love Bernie, he pushed our party left.

(5,936 posts)simply because she actually showed up at the breakfast meeting and proceeded to deliver her entire speech while being yelled at from the beginning of the speech to the end. Even though she started the speech talking about the most recent shooting, people just kept yelling at her. It was horrible to watch. I don't know whether to be impressed that she delivered the speech in full or upset that she didn't leave the podium earlier by shortening her speech. Maybe it was a test run to gauge tonight's potential response?

And I was so impressed with her Teri Schiavo performance I thought she was going to be the NEXT Barack Obama.
