Ron Johnson seeks to keep DOJ from enforcing equal access laws at voucher schools

MOLLY BECK [email protected], 608-252-6135 2 hrs ago 10

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson is seeking to prohibit Department of Justice officials from enforcing parts of the Americans with Disabilities Act at private voucher schools.

The amendment, which Johnson submitted to be included in the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriation Act that has yet to pass, prohibits DOJ from enforcing provisions of the ADA that ensure equal access to public education.

Johnson’s amendment says the provisions that protect students with disabilities from discrimination cannot be enforced in private voucher schools because the schools are not public, despite receiving public money in the form of a school voucher.

...............................

“This assertion by the DOJ could be devastating for low-income students and students with disabilities as it serves to discourage schools from participating in voucher programs,” she said.........................

We had Trump mocking a person with disabilities at one of his rallies and now this teabagger senator Johnson from WI wants to further knock them down.

sought to keep the DOJ from beefing up embassy security? Because no funding was approved - BY CONGRESS - to do so? Despite multiple requests?

Let's not forget that, either. Pennywise, pound-foolish. They sucked it straight outta reagan's teets. Save a few bucks here so we can waste a few lives over there.

He was elected in the Terrible Teabagger Tsunami of Twenty-Ten...the embassy security disaster was in 2011-2012, so he would have been there and since Republicans vote in lockstep, there ya go.

just wheel themselves round and round until he gets on a stage and says the lives of people with disabilities matter too.

And until then, Madison is at a standstill. They will love you, creepo.

We have had many many rallies, attended by hundreds of thousands of people, we have fought a huge recall, we have followed all of them around to their events and protested at the capital. We have Vets and Farmers and Police and Unions and Teachers and even the disabled.. We have fought for public schools, Obamacare, the poor, the right to vote, women's rights, almost every corrupt, abusive tactic and "legislation" they have put before us. Still they hold the power. Neither Madison or Wisconsin are standing still.. Wisconsin has a corrupt political and judicial system that pushes us down, but not forever.. When it's not local gerrymandering, Democratic Presidents get the vote.... Bernie had thousands turn out for his rallies. Yet we still fight the stacked deck...

it should have changed".

That's not how it works.

When you look back at the early part of the century the people who were fighting these bastards were dying and going to jail. They were so successful W.Wilson, the AF of L, and the business unions conspired to kill or jail them until the Industrial Unions were dead. And they did.

Today somehow people think they will achieve the same goals by getting sore feet. They are fooling themselves.

If you get public money, you follow public rules. If do not wish to follow public rules, don't take public money.

It is that goddamned simple.

I am tired of this bullshit and these horrible monsters pretending to be human.
