Obama arrives in Orlando to visit survivors of rampage; six still critically injured

Source: Washington Post

ORLANDO — President Obama arrived in this city on Thursday afternoon to meet with relatives of people killed in the shooting rampage here as well as survivors of the attack and local law enforcement.

This visit, the latest in what has become a long line of trips he has made to regions rocked by catastrophic gun violence, was meant “to show support” and demonstrate that “Americans stand shoulder to shoulder” with Orlando, White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters during the flight.

Even as this trip was underway, discussions continued on Capitol Hill about holding votes on gun control measures following a nearly 15-hour filibuster on the Senate floor.

...snip...

Obama was joined on the flight by two Florida lawmakers — Sen. Marco Rubio (R) and Rep. Corrine Brown (D) — while another, Sen. Bill Nelson (D), flew down with Vice President Biden, officials said. When Obama arrived in Orlando, he shook hands with Gov. Rick Scott (R) and greeted Mayor Buddy Dyer (D), who was wearing an “Orlando United” T-shirt.

will be traveling to Orlando to meet with victims families. That was very interesting. Later Craig said President Obama, VP Biden and others were attending the event which I'm glad to see like the Senate filibuster. We need ACTION, now to curb this violence epidemic.
