'Shield' Actor Convicted of 2nd-Degree Murder

Source: Associated Press

The Latest on the murder trial of actor Michael Jace, who played a police officer on the TV series "The Shield." (all times local):

10:45 a.m.

A jury has convicted an actor who played a police officer on TV of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife in Los Angeles.

The verdict was read Tuesday after the weeklong trial of Michael Jace.

Jace's lawyers acknowledged that he killed his wife April and argued that he should be convicted of voluntary manslaughter because it wasn't a premeditated act.

A prosecutor, however, told jurors that Jace was upset because his wife wanted a divorce and shot her in the back before taunting her and shooting her in the legs two years ago.

For people who question why women stay in abusive relationships, knowing this may help you understand victims act the way that they do.
