Blair Aide: Murdoch Pressed UK Chief Over Iraq War
LONDON June 15, 2012 (AP)

Tony Blair's ex-communications director claimed Friday that media tycoon Rupert Murdoch's warned the British leader over the dangers of delaying the 2003 U.S.-led invasion as he made efforts to press the U.K. to support the conflict.

In the latest volume of his diaries, excerpts of which were published by The Guardian newspaper, Alastair Campbell said Blair found Murdoch's protests clumsy and that they both suspected he had been urged to intervene by the White House.

Giving evidence to Britain's media ethics inquiry last month, Blair acknowledged that he and Murdoch had spoken by phone three times in the immediate run up to the war, and that he had explained Britain's likely course of action.

Campbell's diary recounts that in a call a week before a key House of Commons vote on joining the U.S. invasion, when Blair secured a majority and won over many skeptical legislators, Murdoch pressed the British chief over the possible problems that could be caused by any delay in the start of conflict.

4. K&R...the more that's leaked the sleazier it is...but, then many of us were following this

with every article on international news sites and were reporting here on DU...in Those Days...

We were on it all like hawks. We didn't know this more "direct involvement" by Murdoch...but, we were aware there was more "under the play script" that needed to be revealed.

It's good to see, after all these years, the rot being exposed.

At least in those days here on DU we were not accused of being Conspiracy Theorists. But, then we were fighting the Repugs with our tiny "garden trowels" and we still thought we were "making a difference."

That there was a background of info that all of us did in those years passing news on and on through fellow worriers about what had happened to America and concluding (in our minds) with the "Stolen Election of 2000" and how we had to fight for our Constitution and American Law.

We never, ever thought it would come to what we are living through these days.

But...so good that this is all coming out...bit by bit...piece by piece.

Tony Blair got Trashed by Activist yesterday! Guy wanted a "Citizen's Arrest of the Bush Twin for complicity in Crimes Against Humanity in Iraq.

It was pretty cool...the video is around and being broadcast on "outside US Media" with commentary.

We are not alone...but, sometimes we think we are....but, we are not. "Truth Out and Justice Seekers" are working 24/7.

8. Hell of a way to gin up Fox News viewership

and take the eyes of the people away from the destruction of their personal freedoms under the jackboot heels of corporate-fascist tyrants.
Orwell was an optimist.

Judi Lynn,You've made my day,again.
Thank You.
