Tea Party Grassroots Gather In Washington To Prep For 'The Hostile Takeover'
Source: Huffington Post
WASHINGTON -- A four-day conference for conservative activists organized by FreedomWorks was capped off Monday with a boisterous press conference. "Welcome to the hostile takeover," said Matt Kibbe, president and CEO of the Tea Party group. "We, as shareholders of the American enterprise, feel like it's far past time that we beat the Washington establishment. In case you've read otherwise, we have not gone away." The DC Fly-In & Activist Training Boot Camp brought in grassroots conservative activists from across the country, many of them affiliated with Tea Party groups and their local Republican Party, to network and learn campaign skills for the fall election. In the spirit of FreedomWorks' motto, "Lower taxes, less government, more freedom," the conference featured such talks as "Fighting the Unions: School Choice," "Washington Unbound Spending, Taxes & Regulation," and "Taming the EPA: Unleashing America's Energy." On Monday afternoon, FreedomWorks, which was founded by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) in 2004, organized a lobbying walkabout on Capitol Hill to push Democratic senators to oppose tighter coal ash restrictions. Despite the lack of effective national governance, Somalia has maintained a healthy informal economy, largely based on livestock, remittance/money transfer companies, and telecommunications. Agriculture is the most important sector with livestock normally accounting for about 40% of GDP and more than 50% of export earnings. Nomads and semi-pastoralists, who are dependent upon livestock for their livelihood, make up a large portion of the population. Livestock, hides, fish, charcoal, and bananas are Somalia's principal exports, while sugar, sorghum, corn, qat, and machined goods are the principal imports. Somalia's small industrial sector, based on the processing of agricultural products, has largely been looted and the machinery sold as scrap metal. Somalia's service sector has grown. Telecommunication firms provide wireless services in most major cities and offer the lowest international call rates on the continent. In the absence of a formal banking sector, money transfer/remittance services have sprouted throughout the country, handling up to $1.6 billion in remittances annually. Mogadishu's main market offers a variety of goods from food to the newest electronic gadgets. Hotels continue to operate and are supported with private-security militias. Somalia's arrears to the IMF have continued to grow. |

....you ain't hostile and you ain't taking over shit....your average fellow puke understands that you corporate ass-sucking types and your corporate masters are screwing them too....
....when the banks won't pay us anything for savings, forcing us to wall-street to have our money stolen legally, average pukes get slammed too.... ....back when property values rose along with taxes, average pukes prospered....with plummeting property values, has your wishful-thinking puke taxes gone down any? Dems haven't. ....wall-street wants to gut our social programs to pay off their gambling debts....did you ever need unemployment benefits? Do you want those Social Security and Medicare benefits that you've paid for and are entitled? Dems do, it's your money.... ....when wall-street sent our good paying jobs overseas and shrunk the middle-class to the point of non-existence making the current recovery impossible, average pukes lost their jobs and suffered along with Dems.... "We, as shareholders of the American enterprise, feel like it's far past time that we beat the Washington establishment..." ....no, beat the corporate 1%, for it's they who have purchased our government, looted our treasury, raped our political system and destroyed our economy. 22. Actually, some of that sounds rather good. Why aren't WE doing that?
|
Stuff like the DC Fly-In & Activist Training Boot Camp. I realize we have the Netroots gathering, but are we actively pushing any sort of training boot camp? Is ANYONE on our side, anywhere, pushing activist training meetings or teach-ins or any of those? They're getting their activists fired up. Are we?
I find myself envious of the organization they've put together. It seems to be rather effective. WE NEED THAT STUFF TOO!!!!!! I just keep wondering where OUR version of this is. Where's OUR version of kkkarl rove? Where are OUR devious thinkers? Where's OUR version of the College republi-CONS - who do the dirty tricks and get away with them and don't just beat the opposition but SCREW them into the dirt? YES. I said dirty tricks. YES. I said kkkarl rove. YES. I said devious thinkers. That's what we need. Because unfortunately, THAT is how the game is played now. And if we don't do it straight back to them and butt-fuck them and kick the snot out of them, they'll keep coming back stronger and stronger and more and more effective. And don't start in with me that "oh but, but, but, we CAN'T go there! That makes us no better than them! That makes us just like them!" I actually WANT to be like them. Because they're feared, and they own practically every aspect of the prosecution of this kind of warfare., and because they win. They don't play by the rules. They don't even recognize rules. And as long as we do, we're chumps. And we're gonna get rolled. Again and again and again. And you don't govern if you don't win. You don't set the agenda if you don't win. You don't even get to determine how long Congress actually shows its sorry collective ass up to work if you don't win. This is politics. Not a church social (which, I realize, can get pretty nasty and political). Not a day at the beach (where many of us don't even go anymore because of all the toxins in the water and sand). It's the shitty, nasty, icky, filthy, ruthless, bloodthirsty, immoral, and amoral world of politics. And if you try to play it clean and kind, you just get rolled. Everyone says they hate negative ads - but dammit, they WORK! They get RESULTS!!! And if we don't get results, we're screwed, and even worse - our whole country is screwed. And I hate what I just wrote. It frankly kinda disgusts me. I apologize with all my heart. It makes me cringe even realizing I'm feeling compelled to think this way. But that's the reality - much as most of us here would like it NOT to be. That's how it is. We talk about a level playing field all the time here. And as long as we play nice, we absolutely guarantee it won't be a level playing field. I want to know where the scale is that WE can press OUR collective thumb down upon, to be "fair and balanced" to OUR side. |

Great post.
But at the same time I too hate the premise. Liberals are peace lovers, we believe in the good side in human nature. We believe that two humans that have a disagreement can negotiate and compromise and avoid all out war. But what throws a monkey wrench into that is when the other side purposely REFUSES to play along. Even if they know that overall things will be worse for everyone by their petulant behaviour. And then blame that worse situation using their propaganda outlets in the MSM on the other party. This will continue for the simple reason that it WORKS. How else is it possible that a flip-flopping ken-doll vulture capitalist like Mitt who represents the party that destroyed the economy ever be even within reach in the polling numbers? So, with regret, I agree with you. Progressives cannot simply continue with the Charlie Brown act even if our leaders are susceptible. |

"Back when there were sewing machine women, stitching and all that, and they didn’t have any rights, and the made them work 24 hours a day, that was one thing, but now ... the have long outlived their necessity," said Charlotte Hendrix, an organizer with the Tea Party Patriots of Florence, S.C.
