48 more bikers indicted in deadly shootout at Waco, Texas, restaurant
Source: cnn
Four dozen more bikers were indicted this week in connection with last year's deadly shootout at a Twin Peaks restaurant in Texas.
That brings the total number of indictments from the Waco melee to more than 150.
McLennan County Criminal District Attorney Abel Reyna announced the 48 new indictments Wednesday. The vast majority of the defendants are accused of engaging in organized criminal activity.
The May 17 showdown between rival motorcycle clubs in Waco marked one of the bloodiest days in American biker lore. Nine bikers died and 177 people were arrested in the brawl that ended in a shootout with police.

(11,580 posts)The Rico Act allows for these charges--not anything these guys actually did. All these guys had to do was put on a 3-piece patch vest and they are prime to have their property taken away, their job lost, their family left without a father in the home, a criminal record, etc. Did you know that about half of these guys are veterans?
If you had been digging in to this case at all you would know that it was a set-up from the get-go, and that everyone who attended the daytime event--one that had nothing to do with 1%r activity, but was about local motorcyclist issues--was arrested and their motorcycles or trucks/cars impounded. They were held without bail unless they signed nondisclosure pledges to never talk to the press or anyone. The ones that were actual 1%rs were not released at all and these are the guys that are being charged under the RICO act now because of mounting pressures to let them go.
The gunfight did not involve everyone, so why should all these guys face charges? Many of them legally carry guns, so that cannot be used against them, but it makes for good press. I am not a 2nd Amendment "individual right" supporter, but the law in Texas regarding guns allows guys to pack 'em. Of course if the are a "biker"--to hell with their rights, right?

(675 posts)Thugs on Harleys, outlaws who are 99.9% right wing teabaggers who intimidate on the hi ways with loud pipes, riding in large groups etc. Society has been dealing with losers like this for the last 60 years, just google 1%er and you'll learn all you need to know.
Seriously, what kind of sane person would actually ride a Harley in the 21st century? Harleys are noisey, dirty crude machines that and nothing more than butt jewelry for the brain damaged class. Did you know there is actually some group of these idiots called abate that lobbies against sensible safety laws like helmet laws? These groups are often no more than fronts for the 1% gangs that make their real money in the drug violence and graft business. These aren't a bunch of innocents here they are criminals and they are thankfully being dealt as such.

(675 posts)I lived in the same neighborhood as a sons of silence chapter. They pretty much ran our town of 13,000 people for two decades. It took the Feds to finally put most of them in prison. The city, county and even the state couldn't prosecute them out of existence.
I also lived in close proximity to Hells Angels while I lived in the Bay Area. The Hells Angels are very businesslike in their dealings, they were actually good neighbors. The sons of silence were a nightmare to live around.
I am also a lifelong motorcycle rider and I belong to the AMA, so I know a little of what I speak.

(11,573 posts)The Bandidos, Cossacks and their affiliated clubs are a criminal gang. They control the South Texas "franchise" for importation and shipment of illegal
drugs up the I-35 corridor. Their trading partners are the Zeta cartel, who are paid in guns as well as cash.
Most bikers are ordinary people who simply enjoy riding motorcycles and/or using them as a means of transportation. A growing number are women, many of whom ride with their own clubs.
