Council Bluffs crowd keeps up energy for Sanders in final push

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Robynn Tysver

COUNCIL BLUFFS — Bernie Sanders’ supporters are not fading down the home stretch.

The Democratic presidential upstart whose summer surge took many political pundits by surprise continues to draw raucous crowds in Iowa.

With 40 days left before the Iowa caucuses, more than 1,800 supporters pounded the gym bleachers and roared with gusto Tuesday as the once little-known Vermont senator took the stage like a rock star in Council Bluffs.

The energy level at Iowa Western Community College never tapered off, as Sanders mocked Republicans for their climate change skepticism and questioned the “psychology” of Donald Trump. He also drew loud applause when he accused the GOP presidential front-runner of stoking hatred against Muslims and Mexicans for political gain.

Politics is a marathon/relay race. We have to be in it for the long haul. For generations.

But in the short term, primary voting is 2.25 months away. An entire universe of stuff can happen in that much time. We have to see that Time remains our friend (and I don't mean the magazine) by keeping focus and reaching out to the uncommitted.
