Meet Maureen Russo: An Eligible Florida Voter Governor Rick Scott Just Purged From The Voting Rolls
Source: ThinkProgress
Maureen Russo was born in Akron, Ohio. For the last 40 years she’s operated a dog boarding and grooming business — Bobbi’s World Kennels — with her husband in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Maureen is 60 years old and has been a registered voter in the state for the last four decades. She regularly votes at the church around the corner from her home. Two weeks ago she received a letter from the State of Florida informing her that that had recieved information that she was not born in this country and, therefore, was ineligible to vote. She was given an option to request “an administrative hearing to present evidence” disputing the determination of the State of Florida that she was ineligible to vote. Unless Maureen returned a form requesting such a hearing within 30 days, she was told, it would result in “the removal of your name from the voter registration rolls.” She immediately sent off a registered letter to the State with a copy of her passport. She hasn’t heard anything back. Read more: http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/05/25/490678/eligible-florida-voter-governor-rick-scott-purged/

This is a rank attempt at election fraud. Someone at the Federal level needs to step in and investigate. |

want to take the right to vote from someone else? I actually disagree with disenfranchisement of felons once they have served their terms...but that is the law of the land. So...lets follow the LAW these a$$wipes so love and hold dear and allow people to vote! Lets look at the Constitution they purport to hold to such a high standard and make sure everyone who can vote is able.

so the letter is wrong on that score also.

It does require verification, but this is so over the top this is more than a mistake. I believe this is a willful denial of her right to vote!

29. And yet the state is vague on how it determined this.
|
She provided whatever proof was necessary when she first registered. It's baloney to send someone such a vague letter requiring her to recertify. She has no way of knowing what "proof" the state has that she isn't eligible to vote.
Of course, it's Floriduh, where election fraud is an art form. |

31. Precisely so.

This form letter was written by someone with at best a middle-school level of comprehension of how citizenship is granted. Example: my wife is a US citizen by birth but has never even lived in the US. Nonetheless she's also just as eligible to vote as I am.

Nope, can't think of a single example where they've ever allowed election stealing.

14. People should be worried about Florida in this coming election.
|
They have they made it nearly impossible to register voters (there are very strict stipulations on when the forms need to be returned to the SOE or you get a large fine and many groups like the League of Women Voters have pulled out of registering in Florida because of the new laws.) We have new voter ID laws that make it more difficult for young, poor, and minority voters to vote. Now they are purging the voter rolls. Those of us on the ground here are worried. They are doing everything in their power to give Florida to Mitt.

Don't know why Democrats are still believing they Rethugs would not Suppress the vote. Wake Up Democrats, wake up and DO something! We have been sleeping and they have been wide awake -- ROVE and CHENEY are at the wheel. They have learned from the few mistakes they made brefore and that makes them even more dangerous. |
