At least 16 people were hospitalized in New Orleans Sunday evening, following a shooting during a party at a city park, authorities said.
The shooting broke out at Bunny Friend playground in the Upper Ninth Ward where about 500 people were gathered at the playground to shoot a music video, according to New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison.
That event followed the Nine Times Second Line parade, which took place earlier a block or two from the shooting scene, Mayor Mitch Landrieu said.
Witnesses told WWL-TV that at least two gunmen fired into the crowd.

(11,911 posts)We took one evening and went to The House of Blues. My coworker said I didn't need to worry about our personal safety walking down Bourbon Street since he was packing. We didn't realize at the time, but they were having a fundraiser for kids/families affected by gun violence. One of the families they were raising money for was a family where a couple of members were hit by stray bullets because someone thought 'celebrating' New Years meant go out and shoot your guns in the air.
I came back from that trip with a whole new attitude re: guns.
