October Obliterated Heat Records

Source: Huff Post

Shockingly high temperatures in October all but guarantee that 2015 will be the world's hottest year ever recorded.

Last month was the warmest October ever recorded -- and the sixth straight month to set record temperatures. It also was the first month to surpass the average temperature by more than 1 degree Celsius, new NASA data revealed Tuesday.

October was 1.04 degrees Celsius, or about 1.87 degrees Fahrenheit, hotter than the base period of 1951 to 1980 used as a reference to measure the long-term average, NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies reported. That marks the greatest departure from a month's average heat since weather record-keeping began in 1880, beating January 2007 as the most anomalous month by 0.07 degrees Celsius.

October's heat means there's a 99.9 percent chance that 2015 will claim 2014's title as the hottest year on record, GISS director Gavin Schmidt tweeted.

I'm in Ohio and we had at least a week where temps were in the upper sixties, even popping into the seventies. I can't remember seeing that before for that duration in November at this latitude.

... "There was frost on my windshield this morning! So global warming is a hoax!"

And a horrifying percentage of the populace, whose already limited mental faculties have been completely atrophied by their addiction to "Fair and Balanced," will believe said shitbrain. And vote as they are instructed by William the Wise. And the endless parade of pathological liars will be elected to seats on the Dark Side of the aisle, with a few disguised as humans and sprinkled among the supposedly enlightened. And precisely nothing will be done. Until it is too late.

And that day may already be in the rear view mirror.

Have a nice day!

Otherwise, the oil Lobbyists will continue to instruct their politicians they own to keep from instituting any changes other than decreasing regulations!

Bernie is calling for a political revolution so we can eliminate campaign contributions (bribes)! Hillary will not. She will protect them from any other regulations.

I do not live that far from the beach and every summer except the last one, the afternoon breeze more than adequately cooled my home. I ran my central air maybe a max of five times in a "normal" summer.

Not this year. My central air went 24/7 for weeks on end and my electric bill for October was triple the highest one I had had in the last past 10 years. I even received some kind of a credit on the bill -- I think because of my age -- and my bill was still three times the next highest one I had had in my present home.

No global warming? I say "bullshit" to those who disagree!

As indicated in a gardening book I have from the late 1970s. This year the temperature has not gotten below 50 F once and has no prospects of getting cold any time soon. Only in the last week has the outside temperature been cool enough to open the windows and turn off the air conditioning. And I don't like doing that since the bugs are still out and can make it through the screens.

But before that we had 80 degree temps. That's full summer, easily 20 degrees higher than it should have been for 2 months, and +10 degrees hotter than it it was 10 years ago every day this summer.

We are in such deep trouble, and all our establishment is wanting to do is to continue the 1% total party.

Acknowledged or not, the party is over.

we live on the skillet planet. Just getting hotter and hotter.

I read someplace that when the temp reaches +2C that there will be entire areas of the world that will be uninhabitable because it will just be too damn hot. Like 140-150 degrees hot. Unsuitable for human existence.

we just surpassed the +1C level this past week. It came much earlier than was expected.

when will we hit 2C? I'm no scientist and I don't pretend to be one, but I think I can safely say, it will come much sooner than people expect.

we are a sorry bunch. We really are.

it is an El Nino year and the water temps just peaked. We'll not get the full effects until this time next year under the La Nina. Supposed to be worse than the 1997 one.
