Iran has stopped dismantling nuclear centrifuges: senior official

Source: Reuters

Iran has stopped dismantling centrifuges in two uranium enrichment plants, state media reported on Tuesday, days after conservative lawmakers complained to President Hassan Rouhani that the process was too rushed.

Last week, Iran announced it had begun shutting down inactive centrifuges at the Natanz and Fordow plants under the terms of a deal struck with world powers in July that limits its nuclear program in exchange for easing sanctions.

Iran's hardliners continue to resist and undermine the nuclear deal, which was forged by moderates they oppose and which they see as a capitulation to the West.

"The (dismantling) process stopped with a warning," Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the National Security Council, was quoted as saying by the ISNA student news agency.

Iran has its hard-line conservatives just like we do. Fortunately, the Iranian leadership was able to forge out an agreement, and the will continue to live up to it.

The thing is, I base my opinion on their prior actions and breaking every agreement they've ever signed. But I'M being unreasonable!!

9. Conservatively, Obama and Kerry have said the deal does not depend on trust

If Iran does not comply, they get nothing ... they haven't gotten anything yet. Rather sad, that both of you seem to relish the idea of this failing - ignoring that that path likely leads to war.

8. Note that they gain NOTHING if they don't comply with this and other requirements

They have not gained anything yet. Even if everything fell apart because they did not comply, the US and the other country will be far better positioned because they actually DID go the extra mile to use diplomacy.

But, I guess you would prefer a neo con -- or maybe Netanyahu - who would simply have skipped that step and started a war with a more homogeneous, bigger country than Iraq. Thank God that Obama and Kerry have the courage to stand against the many people who would have pushed for that path.

10. No, I'd prefer Iran finally admitting what they were doing

and agreeing to stopping it for good. With unannounced inspections. And then after complying for some time, gradually lift the sanctions and release their money.
Whats wrong with that idea?
Instead, the FIRST thing they do is place a big order for missiles that WERE banned.

24 hours a day seven days a week. It is suspected new places where there will be a process to get access. No country has agreed to more. Remember this was a negotiation and not the result of a country being defeated. I seriously doubt that you could have negotiated a better deal than the combined forces working for the P5 + 1. Not to mention, even Israeli intelligence people consider the deal better than not having one.

14. And so having NO agreement is better? That's what it comes down to.
