(Maryland) Delegate warns of 'black youth mobs'

A Baltimore County delegate said Wednesday that the governor should send in the Maryland State Police to control "roving mobs of black youths" at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, prompting a colleague to label the message "race-baiting."

Del. Patrick L. McDonough, a Republican whose district includes part of Harford County, distributed a news release with the headline: "Black Youth Mobs Terrorize Baltimore on Holidays." In it, McDonough said he had sent a letter to Gov. Martin O'Malley urging him to use the state police to help prevent attacks and to declare the Inner Harbor area a "no-travel zone" until safety can be guaranteed.

McDonough's message, which came on the last day of a General Assembly special session, offended some colleagues who thought it gratuitously highlighted the issue of race.

"It's a throwback to the '50s and '60s, and it's obviously race-baiting," said Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., a Baltimore Democrat who offered to take McDonough on a guided tour of the Inner Harbor on a weekend night.

McDonough also hosts a Saturday night talk show on WCBM 680, the local RusHannity station.

This asshat is clearly carrying on the tradition of both Agnew and my neighbor in fourth grade, who, on the eve of the first African American family moving into our sprawling apartment complex, called a special meeting to announce that "they s**t white". "What?!" "Yeah. Each race s**ts what it hates. We s**t brown, they s**t white." From a fourth-grader. In a state that prided itself even then on its good (by comparison) race relations. Where, pray tell, might he have heard that?

If these things are actually happening then why is it a problem to mention it? If it is not actually happening then the guy is a liar and should be called out.

We've had a well publicized problem with wolf pack attacks in Philly. They have calmed down after a crackdown.

If there are roving mobs of youth causing trouble are you absolutely positive they are all black or is that just racism showing it's ugly head? There is absolutely no need to describe the youth with any other adjective, IMO..
