Fred Davis, Joe Ricketts Disavow Rev. Wright Proposal
Source: talkingpointsmemo.com
Fred Davis, the Republican ad man whose firm was responsible for the plan to attack President Obama by emphasizing his connection to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, sent the following statement to TPM from his firm Strategic Perception: The document referred to in today’s New York Times story was one proposal prepared and submitted by Strategic Perception Inc. The Ricketts family never approved it, and nothing has happened on it since the presentation. The vendors listed were as proposed, and had nothing to do with this proposal. 1. Ricketts own the Cubs!
|
First, when you go to Joe Ricketts' website, there is not way to contact him, although there is a contact button. It doesn't work! Well, I hope the "goat curse" spreads beyond the Cubs and engulfs the entire Ricketts business conglomerate. I also just donated to the Obama Campaign and will continue to do so monthly.
BOYCOTT THE CUBS!!!! |

10. Of the kids, Laura is a big Dem, Pete is a big pub and Tom I can't find anything on.

Was looking in Opensecrets for their political donations. Papa Joe looks like an ATM for the GOP.

7. Besides which, before the Ricketts family,
|
the Tribune Company owned the Cubs. Do you know anything about their history, or their politics?
As far as I am concerned, Republican scum has been the REAL curse on the Cubs, not some smelly goat. If we can get rid of the republican scum, we will be on our way to breaking the curse. |

4. I am not going to boycott the Cubs,
|
but Chicago is a Democratic city, and there are other ways to let the Ricketts family know that we disapprove.
I don't think the Ricketts family will last as Cubs owners. They are too wimpy for this curse. Curses usually begin to lose their power after about a hundred years. In about 2042, some clever hero will figure out how to break the curse. His name will not be Ricketts. |

13. First of all, curses don't exist
|
Secondly, how are the Ricketts wimpy? They went out and poached one of the best GMs in baseball. The Cubs are in the middle of a rebuilding process. This will take a few years.

19. Absolutely
|
The Chicago Cubs are the Ricketts Family just like they were the Wrigleys when I was a kid (and what a curse that was) If Ricketts is going to be a complete jerk, then the place to hit him is at the Cubs. Don't go to games, don't watch them on TV and ;et the sponsors know.

now they have to come up with some other bogus story, like blaming him for Bush's massive debts.

Because that opens the door on the Mormon angle.

Part of me wishes they WOULD revisit Rev. Wright. It would be really entertaining to watch the few neurons in these teabaggers' pea brains short circuit under the confusion.

If you do, the door is open to discuss the Mormon Church's baptism of holocaust victims.

16. I knew that Wright would resurface this year after listening to The Savage Nation
|
on the day when Rick Santorum dropped out of the primaries. I expected Savage to riff on Santorum but instead had to wait thru an excerpt from a Wright sermon where he was allegedly trashing Aristotle and western philosophy followed by Savage howling and scaremongering about Obama bringing Wright's ideas to the White House:

18. I doubt they ever planned a campaign on this
|
All they wanted to do was get it bubbled back up, create a buzz. Mission accomomplished. Romoney gets to deny that he would have supported the effort while the media runs the ball down the field. The thugs have their machine highly oiled and running. Anyone who has watched the Romoney in action knows he can go down and dirty while giving that "who me?" contrite look when questioned.
Don't buy it. They just want to get Rev. Wright into the talking cycle they got way more dirt to sling. I am betting this is a diversion. My BIL has been way too happy lately. |

I mean Obama is already the President. Why is some preacher supposed to scare someone. The time for that scare tactic was before he was elected.
