JEB BUSH SAYS 'STUFF HAPPENS' IN RESPONSE TO GUN VIOLENCE

Source: ABC13 Eyewitness News

Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush made an eyebrow-raising comment in the wake of the Oregon school massacre -- saying "stuff happens" in response to a discussion about gun violence.

Bush called the shooting in Oregon "very sad," but said he also had challenges that he faced during his tenure as governor of Florida.

"Look stuff happens, there's always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something and it's not always the right thing to do," Bush said at the Conservative Leadership Project in Greenville, South Carolina, referring to taking away rights.

that is hard for regular people to comprehend. They get so entangled in all the political BS, I don't think they even know what they think anymore. It is a soul-sucking and dangerous game. Just imagine having to overthink every word you say for fear you will offend a certain demographic or donor.

I remember the movie The Candidate with Robert Redford. What he went through was child's play compared to the way it is today. I keep waiting for one of them to have a "Bullworth" moment, but I guess that only happens in the movies.

It wasn't the context of "Hey, Governor, what do you think of Oregon?" "Stuff happens," he replied. That's what's a lot of these articles are implying. He wasn't being dismissive. What he said, as posted above, the shooting was "very sad" and after acknowledging that then went on to give a realistic comment how crisis play out: "Look, stuff happens, there's always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something and it's not always the right thing to do". I don't think that's an unrealistic comment. But it's been cherry picked to make it sound like he was just blowing off the incident.

That said, his position that we shouldn't "do something" is pretty infuriating, implying same-old, same-old.

Don't we want government to protect us from vicious psychotics?

Not even australian gun laws would have prevented this massacre. America is filled with a ton of angst ridden special snowflakes who want to earn their immortality killing masses of people at once. No gun laws/bans will stop that.

But I can see his point. Republicans seem willing to accept the level of gun violence, which has gone down in recent years, in order to have the ability to own guns with minimal government intrusion.

The deadliest school massacre occurred in the 1920's, long before the term "assault rifle" had been invented. I am sure there were others, just the fact that there wasn't a whore media back then that glorifies these killings for ratings, thereby encouraging more mass shootings.

43. So... This is the "New Normal"?
Sat Oct 3, 2015, 12:28 AM
Oct 2015

The lack of empathy is astounding. The new normal is that mass shootings just happen, criminal justice injustices just happen, swimming pool drownings and Katrina's just happen, and so do planes flying into towers, and nuclear attacks. I think the Bush reaction is that nothing should change, don't let this sort of thing discomfort a golf game. So, one wonders...why government? ... Oh, nevermind, Republicans think government is only to keep the masses in chains.

and he was touted as the smart one?! The Bushes -- all of them -- are dumb and malevolent. A bad combination.

We know Shrub was/is a pure idiot, a fraud, a blubbering puppet of his handlers. But Jeb is proving to be equally daft. And Poppy was no speaker either. Remember in 1992 when he realized he was losing to Clinton and Gore, he was flabbergasted because after all he had won the 1st Gulf War (poor Iraq). So he resorted to name calling, referring to his opponents as bozos. So much for his alleged patrician class, manners and breeding. Frankly, Dan Quayle showed more grace.

I truly loathe the Bushes and hope Jeb continues to sink like a stone.
