Potential for Democratic filibuster on Iran deal angers Key Republican
Source: NYT
With the tide flowing in President Obama's favor on the Iran nuclear deal, the architect of the deal that gave Congress a say in its approval is none too happy about the possibility that the accord may never reach a final vote.

Apparently, the party that filibustered each and every vote for 6 years, suddenly thinks a filibuster is unfair. Amazing chutzpah here. That he is whining shows there is a chance this gets filibustered. Suddenly filibustering something is "not letting it get a final vote"
Maybe they should remember that they blocked 59 Senators from fixing anything in ACA via a conference bill after Scott Brown was elected.

Note that there had already been a shift, here and in Israeli media, to argue that a passed bill would "tarnish" Obama's foreign policy accomplishment - even if the deal is not stopped because Obama's veto is sustained.
(Summary - they have gone from we will stop this - to Obama only gets this with a veto - to it is unfair that Democrats are allowed to filibuster the disapproval referendum.)

Swing-state voters reject Iran deal
Wide majorities in three key swing states oppose the Iran nuclear deal, according to the results of the latest Quinnipiac University poll released Monday.
In Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, voters rejected the deal announced between Iran and six world powers last month and also said the agreement would make the world less safe, not safer.
Florida voters opposed the nuclear deal 61 percent to 25 percent, while 61 percent to 27 percent said it would make the world less safe. In Ohio, 58 percent opposed the deal, compared with 24 percent who support it. Additionally, 56 percent to 26 percent think the deal would lead to a less safe world.
Among Pennsylvania voters, 61 percent opposed the agreement, while 26 percent supported it, while 60 percent to 27 percent said the agreement would make the world less safe.

important part:
When The Poll Question Provided Details Of The Agreement, Majority Of People Supported It. A previous Quinnipiac poll in the same swing states four months earlier provided context about the Iran agreement, asking if respondents "would support a deal with Iran that lifts some sanctions while making it more difficult for Iran to produce nuclear weapons." The results of this poll showed a majority of voters in the three states would support an agreement with Iran:

Lastly, it is not likely to be a big issue by 2016. Unless perhaps in October 2016, the team that negotiated it get the Nobel Peace Prize.

(6,855 posts)When White Senators filibuster a Black President hundreds of times since 2008, that's good politics.
But, when those same Senators get filibustered on a bill they like or dislike, well..... that's just plain rude.
