Biden travels to Washington for private political meeting

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)Vice President Joe Biden traveled to Washington on Saturday for a private political meeting at the Naval Observatory, CNN has learned, another sign he is seriously deciding whether to jump into the Democratic presidential race.

The vice president, whose official schedule said he was planning to spend the weekend at his home in Delaware, arrived in Washington around 11 a.m.

He was set to meet with a leading Senate Democrat, two people familiar with the session said, before returning to Wilmington, Delaware.

Kendra Barkoff, a Biden spokeswoman, declined to comment on the meeting. But an aide to Biden confirmed the meeting, telling CNN: "The vice president traveled last minute to Washington, D.C. for a private meeting and will be returning to Delaware."

seen many of his supporters claim on DU, then Biden entering the race doesn't make much sense. Biden and Hillary would likely be fighting for the same supporters, allowing Sanders to come up the middle and get the nomination. He wouldn't need much more support than he has right now.

Many on the left would love to see her in an administration, and many supporters of Clinton who really want a woman on the ticket would take a new look at Biden.

I think it's a decent move. I mean, a (D) isn't going to win the south anyway so you may as well nominate two northeasterners.

Believe. If you have the right policies, Democrats can win the South. Democrats did not have a vision in 2010 and 2014. That's why they lost the South. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe can be good running mates as well. Have hope.

Aug 2015

More prominent Democrats on Sunday cracked open the door for Vice President Joe Biden to enter the race for the Democratic presidential nomination as party front-runner Hillary Clinton battled questions over her use of a private email server.

California Governor Jerry Brown told NBC's Meet the Press program that Biden should give "very serious consideration" to a presidential run.

<>

Josh Alcorn, a senior adviser for Draft Biden 2016, a Super PAC group that is laying groundwork for a potential run, said the vice president was "sounding out people in early (primary election) states, activists and potential supporters."

alternative to Clinton (he has principled policy disagreements with Clinton and Biden either agrees with Clinton or is slightly to Clinton's right).

In sum, no Democrats need a "viable alternative" to replace the "failing" Clinton campaign; the MSM just needs to generate stories to sell newspapers and to provide hand-wringing topics for the shouting-at-each-other Sunday political talk shows.
