Donald Trump Attacks Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Over 'Cheap' Migrants

Source: The London Daily Mail 19:36 EST, 18 August 2015

Donald Trump has launched a personal attack on Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg for letting too many immigrants into America.
The billionaire businessman, who is vying to be US President, said he wanted to force technology companies to hire more Americans instead of ‘flying cheaper workers in from overseas’.
He launched a broadside at Mr Zuckerberg, claiming that the technology chief was trying to push through new rules that would make it even harder than it is presently for Americans to find jobs in the future.

In a somewhat surprising move, Mr Trump – who has been accused of sexism on numerous occasions during his campaign to be president – also claimed that the rules Mr Zuckerberg is espousing would make things particularly hard for women and ethnic minorities.

‘Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs [people on a visa for ‘highly-skilled workers’] that would decimate women and minorities,’ he said. At the moment, America grants a limited number of ‘H-1B’ visas for each year, helping companies like Facebook, Google and Apple to recruit heavily from the countries including Britain, India and China.

think it important to push the TPP and send more jobs overseas. I don't know why.

Wouldn't it be ironic if he out-democrated the Democrats on labor?

But for some reason, many DUers don't see that H1b visas and open borders are two versions of the same anti-US working class policy.

Disclaimer: I am not a Trump supporter.

No one from either party has really gotten much play in a long time who took a "populist" position immigration. The consensus has been pretty strong actually, with few cracks in it. I don't agree with Trump's position. I could readily see his posturing leading to the other Republicans (and many Democrats) looking like pro-corporate entities relative to a more "pro-working class" position. Recall that the US labor movement, or aspects of it, took a dim view of immigration generally at different points.

I've found it disconcerting when I see/hear Irish and Italian Catholics disparaging Islam as a religion that is not compatible with democracy.
I remind people that it was the same argument used against Catholics in the late 19th, early 20th century
Some people seem to think that once they're no longer in the 'out' crowd it's just fine to bash the 'outs'.

to vote for him because he goes after foreigners. On balance his economic policies (walls, tariffs and going after immigrants - all targeted at foreigners - plus more 'right-to-work' and no taxes on corporations) would be horrible for American workers.

But a little 'populism' goes a long way in winning votes. The Donald is not dummy.

In construction, for example. Well-qualified US citizens who are drywallers, carpenters, bricklayers, etc. are being underpriced by cheap illegal foreign labor. This is one of Bernie's concerns, too.

“But here’s where I do have concerns,” he continued. “There is a reason why Wall Street and all of corporate America likes immigration reform, and it is not, in my view, that they’re staying up nights worrying about undocumented workers in this country. What I think they are interested in is seeing a process by which we can bring low-wage labor of all levels into this country to depress wages for Americans, and I strongly disagree with that.”

I'm totally in favor of immigration. There should be more immigrants allowed in each year.

H-1b Visas are sham that are used by corporation to drive down wages and exploit workers. They basically replace local worker with temporary worker for fraction of costs.

So a stopped clock is right twice a day.
I encourage public exposure of this massive H-1B exploitation by Silicon Valley. Within the last few months, there's even been a post on DU about how a SV Corp brought tech slave labor over under H-1B.

Didn't know that Zuckerberg was so close to Rubio, but it makes sense.

Glad Bernie includes criticism of H-1B in his platform too.
