U.S. Iran Deal With US Brings Thousands to Times Square Protest

Thousands of protesters packed into Times Square Wednesday evening to demand that Congress vote down the proposed U.S. deal with Iran.

As the crowd loomed behind police barricades, chants of "Kill the deal!" could be heard for blocks. The event, billed as the "Stop Iran Rally" consisted mainly of pro-Israel supporters, though organizers said it represents Americans of all faiths and political convictions.

The group is asking Congress to reject the deal under which the U.S. would agree to lift economic sanctions against Iran in return for measures to prevent the country from building nuclear weapons.

At the rally, Alan Dershowitz, a prominent Jewish attorney, said he was "opposing the deal as a liberal Democrat." He said he believed democracy was "ignored" because the Obama administration negotiated the deal without congressional input.

Republicans and AIPAC Step Up Campaign Against Iran Deal
Top Republicans vowed on Wednesday to do their utmost to scrap President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran as the biggest pro-Israel lobby geared up for an all-out campaign next week to pressure wary lawmakers into rejecting the agreement.

A bigger push against last week’s historic accord in Vienna was being met with a counter-offensive by senior Obama administration officials, who briefed groups of lawmakers in closed-door sessions on Wednesday and will defend the deal in a congressional hearing on Thursday.

As Congress opened a 60-day review of the deal, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner, the top congressional Republican, told reporters: “Because a bad deal threatens the security of the American people, we’re going to do everything possible to stop it.”

The most influential pro-Israel group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), planned to deploy hundreds of lobbyists on Capitol Hill next Wednesday and Thursday to try to convince lawmakers, especially wavering or undecided Democrats, to vote against the deal, according to an official in the pro-Israel camp.

AIPAC will also run a national campaign of television commercials already under way and sponsored by allied groups such as Citizens for a Nuclear Free Iran, U.S. pro-Israel sources said. The groups are expected to spend upwards of $20 million, one of the sources said.

Democrats.

I will be taking names down on this one, and I will not support any Democrat who votes to go to war with Iran, because don't kid yourselves, that is what it is about.

The names and places have been changed, but this is IWR redux

So far the three leading Democrats have supported the deal, Hillary, Bernie, and O'Malley.

If congress over rides the veto, I predict the Democrats WILL lose both houses of Congress.

The silver lining is that there are six countries party to this agreement, and if the U.S. congress backs us out of the deal, we will be left in the cold, and irrelevant.

You have Walker and Bush arguing whether to go to war with Iran on the day of inauguration, or later.

This WILL be an issue among the Democratic candidates, and will predict if there is any Democratic candidate who ends up opposing that deal, that candidate WILL lose the election.

The American people are very clear, they do NOT want to go to war with Iran, and they approve this deal. Go against the American people, and pay the consequences

input".

The executive branch does the negotiating of international agreements. (If we relied on the legislative branch to negotiate treaties, we would not have any of them.)

The head of the executive branch is elected. Democracy was not "ignored".

And congress will have its say in the approval/rejection process. So those who prefer war to a negotiated settlement still have hope that congress will "kill the deal", leaving war much more likely.

These lunatics only care about GD Israel.

Most of the same Israel worshiping kooks also supported our unprovoked atrocity against Iraq, a crime that was very much supported and promoted by the pro-Israel crowd, without whom the war would not have happened.

weaponry - never mind that Israel keeps rattling the sword - they want war? - then just have at it - and leave us out of it..what is the old saying - "don't bite the hand that feeds ya'"...pathetic...

To me, this is no different than (hypothetically speaking) the US needs help against an invasion by Mexico - some in congress don't go that far.(some do, build that dang fence).but will fear monger ISIS is coming over the Mexican border...run run run! - pathetic - we have our own homegrown lone wolves lurking.....

STOP WAR! - This Iran deal is huge and has lasting affect for our children and grand children -

Now you want to talk climate change - now there is something to worry about...yet most deniers live with head in sand..and pretty soon - even sand will be a rare commodity considering the rise of sea levels -

Be well all - (btw) are those protesters paid to protest?? ) just askin' - oh and Alan Dershowitz, can we talk.....
