TLC cancels "19 Kids and Counting

The cable channel said Thursday that it has officially canceled the show, nearly two months after revelations about acts of child molestation committed by one of the 19 kids, Josh Duggar, when he was a teenager. Several of his sisters were among the victims.

TLC initially pulled the past episodes of "19 Kids and Counting" from its schedule, but kept open the possibility that the show would resume someday.

Now it's saying production of the series will not resume, despite its longtime popularity.
However, a spokesman for Discovery Communications, which owns TLC, said the channel is not ruling out a spin-off show featuring some of the Duggar children in the future.

Discovery will be producing and airing a one-hour special on the issue of child molestation, featuring two of the Duggar women who were molested.

10. Yeppers, this is exactly what I'm thinking, too.

The two sisters will undoubtedly and conveniently be Jill Dillard and Jessica Seward - both of them now married and therefore able to speak about "sex". They've already given their spiel on the Fox News interview and I cannot imagine that there is more that they would have to say on the subject.

If there is a show with the sisters, I don't think it will have a long life. I think people are tired of the "holier than thou" attitudes of these hypocrites.

If TLC had been concerned for the Duggar children, they would have made sure long ago that there were trusts set up for each of them for appearing on the reality show. Trusts were not mandated because this show was filmed in Arkansas. In the "Jon and Kate Plus 8" show, which was filmed in Pennsylvania, Jon Gosseling successfully sued to have trusts established for the children.

The Duggars - ALL OF THEM - need to be removed from the public eye. They are not worthy of emulation in any form.

They helped to cover up his crimes.

I suppose you could have a spin-off involving some of the older, married Duggar children, minus Josh. And maybe some of the younger children could make guest appearances.

I think the next Duggar wedding will get a TLC special....one that edits out the Duggar parents from the scenes. It will just feature the bride, groom, in-laws, and other Duggar children (again, minus Josh).

they are simply finding ways to rebrand the package so they don't lose their fans.

They need to cut ALL ties with the Duggars. Obviously the girls who were molested by their brothers have been brainwashed into believing nothing happened. The Duggars do not want to lose their major source of income and will lie any way they can to somehow manage to keep any of their kids on TV.

it is a way around the unions that protect actors and writers. By claiming these are reality and by using non-actors, the channels can fill time with cheaply produced exploitation shows. Some nights there are more reality shows on prime time that actual production shows. I pass and pop in a DVD.
