Bernie Sanders readies for first financial test against Hillary Clinton

Source: CNN

By Dan Merica,

Snip: Sanders' aides said Tuesday they will evaluate when to release their fundraising number this week. But on a call with reporters ahead of a trip to Wisconsin, Sanders was already touting his fundraising efforts.

"I think, as I understand it, we are going to have a pretty good campaign financial report coming out," he said, adding that his campaign has "collected donations from some 200,000 Americans" from all 50 states. The average donation, Sanders said, was around $37.

Sanders says he detests personally asking people for money and has made a point of telling his supporters that "billionaires" aren't lining up to give him money.

"Sitting around and talking to people at fundraisers, no, that would not be how he wants to spend a lot of his time," said Tad Devine, Sanders' top campaign strategist. "It is safe to say he would rather spend his time doing other things."

At least be honest. There are even links to her disclosure forms in the first article. This is personal income, not the foundation. She does donate some, but not all, to the foundation.

There are so many articles, it would be impossible to list them all. I thought everyone knew this.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/clintons-earn-more-than-25-million-in-speaking-fees-since-january-2014/2015/05/15/52605fbe-fb4d-11e4-9ef4-1bb7ce3b3fb7_story.html

Hillary Rodham Clinton and former president Bill Clinton earned in excess of $25 million for delivering 104 speeches since the beginning of 2014, a huge infusion to their net worth as she was readying for a presidential bid.

The Clintons revealed their recent income as paid speakers and other aspects of their personal finances in disclosure forms filed with the Federal Election Commission on Friday

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/05/hillary-clinton-goldman-sachs-private-equity-white-house-2016

Since leaving State, Clinton has made more than 90 speeches and notable appearances. Her hosts have included private equity firms, investment banks, nonprofit galas, trade association conventions, and a slew of colleges and universities. At least two-dozen of those were paid speeches. With her usual fee of $200,000 a speech, Clinton has banked close to $5 million for her speeches and appearances in the last 15 months. (A spokesman for Clinton did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)

people to say good and bad things but in the end, she won't win hearts and minds. She has nothing. He is hope and the future. IMHO. Money is a two edged sword. Wall street and the Citizens United thing has poisoned people about money. You don't need a nickel to convince a few people who convince more people and you have to have an arena to hold your crowds attracted by word of mouth. Consider, this is pretty much word of mouth here.

GO, BERNIE!

Because that will mean our democracy truly is corrupt if money is all it takes. I dislike the money argument for HRC. If she is a great candidate, then she should run on that. The meme that only she could win the general didn't work in 2008 either. Spreading lies does not help the candidate either but that seems to be how some wish to proceed.

Hillary holds top-dollar events and she's elitest...

Hillary raises low dollar contributions and she can't get support...

Still, $45 M is $45 M.

She'll have the money for staff in every part of Iowa AND New Hampshire AND South Carolina AND Nevada. Will you be quitting your job to help Sanders? He'll need volunteers with a greater time commitment than a weekend stuffing envelopes to compete in all four States.

Add to which, I still have never said anything negative about Bernie Sanders or his policies. My only comments have been that I don't see a way he actually wins under the rules everyone else will be playing by, and which we can't change right now.

Omaha Steve, I have admired your posts and insights throughout the years I've lurked here. Glad to see your post tonight!

Driving to Sioux City tomorrow and intend to help and volunteer an hour before hearing Bernie speak there. Wondering if there will be traveling Nebraskans as well as a few of us South Dakotans. Can hardly wait!!! The USA needs Bernie Sanders as our President.
