China says activist 'can apply' to study abroad
Source: CNN
Beijing (CNN) -- China said Friday that the Chinese activist at the center of a diplomatic storm has the right to apply to study abroad after he told U.S. lawmakers that he wants to leave his homeland for the United States. If Chen Guangcheng wants to go overseas to study, "as a Chinese citizen, he may apply like other Chinese citizens according to the laws and normal procedures of the relevant departments," Liu Weimin, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on the ministry's website. The statement appeared to offer a possible solution to the complex crisis over the future of Chen, which has generated a flurry of negotiations between Chinese and U.S. officials and overshadowed a long-planned visit to Beijing by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for economic talks. ... "China pledged to guarantee my constitutional rights and called me a free man," Chen said, speaking from his hospital room early Friday in Beijing to congressional commission members who listened by speakerphone in Washington, 12 times zones and thousands of miles away. The rMoney-termed "day of shame" is nothing but a figment of his very limited imagination. Stupid schmuck. Grasping at straws.

1. This article has the best account of why Chen is going back and forth I've read.
|
One, he's been through a lot over the past 18 months, and two, when he got to the hospital, he was able to talk to other Chinese activists who shook his confidence over staying in China.
Here's hoping he and his family get here soon. |

2. Well, that didn't take long to make Romney look like a complete gasbag
|
For what he said about President Obama having "a day of shame" yesterday.
It must be a conspiracy between the Chinese leaders and President Obama to make Romney look even more like a total douchebag in front of the entire world. I'll bet the Chinese leaders are all laughing their asses off today, after waiting 24 hours for Romney to try and make political hay out of this issue, before they said "okay, you can leave." |

6. Ahhhh, it's starting to make sense.
|
And it's beginning to sound like this situation was handled well by our US Officials.
Rmoney still might get some traction though, the MSM will pick up his cries of "day of shame" without fully explaining what happened and some ill-informed voters will buy into it. |

8. Mitt is gonna be "a sad"
|
Mitt Romney condemned the Obama administration’s handling of blind Chinese
dissident Chen Guangcheng, calling the episode “a dark day for freedom” and “a day of shame” for President Obama if, he couched, reports are true that American officials communicated threats to Chen’s family. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0512/75886.html#ixzz1tqlDYoQk |

his advisors. Y'think Mittens would try and take control of his own campaign. Seems like all these so called "Christians" are the devil holding a bible in one hand and weapons in another and spouting DIE if you don't believe in my way of thinking, hmmmmmmmm, sorta sound like the inquistions.
