At least 27 people have been killed, including foreigners, in an attack on a beach near two tourist hotels in the Tunisian resort town of Sousse, according to the interior ministry.
Officials say one gunman has been shot dead and another is being pursued.
Sousse is a popular tourist destination.
Tunisia has been on high alert since March when militants killed 22 people, mainly foreign tourists, in an attack on a museum in the capital Tunis.

Details of the attack, which a local security source at the scene and radio reported was on the Imperial Marhaba hotel, were still emerging.
The body of one gunman lay at the scene with a Kalashnikov assault rifle after he was shot in an exchange of gunfire with police, the source said.
Sousse is one of Tunisias most popular beach resorts, drawing visitors from Europe and neighbouring North African countries.

The incidents, in which scores of people were killed, took place around the time of Friday prayers - typically the most crowded of the week - during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
