TRENTON, Mich (WJBK) - The teen shot by police after allegedly charging at an officer with a lawn mower blade has died, police in Trenton tell FOX 2.
Police arrived at the home in the 2800 block of Longmeadow Drive after receiving a call about a 'highly disturbed male' who was possibly under the influence of a substance.
We're told officers attempted to subdue 18-year-old Kyle Biker with a taser, but they say he attacked an officer with a lawn mower blade, slashing hand. We're told the officer fired a single round, striking the teen in the stomach.

Sad.
But this points out the case where he was armed with a dangerous weapon, and they still tried non-lethal restraint. If he were an African American 18 year old ... they would have just shot him right off the bat. Possibly even if he did not have the lawnmower blade.

(46,301 posts)They had already tried tasing him, it didn't faze him in the slightest.
I saw a guy once, years ago, that out of control.
All the cops could do was stay away from him as he screamed at them and charged them.
Finally he ran into a lamp post, and they gang-tackled the guy.

(7,769 posts)It spins really fast to cut grass, but it is *not* razor blade sharp.
It is more of a blunt object with angular edges. Spinning it really fast does the cutting, not some razor sharp edge.
