2 former Democratic Massachusetts mayors back Scott Brown for Senate

BOSTON Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is touting support from two former Democratic mayors in his bid for re-election.

Brown held events on Monday with former Boston Mayor and U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican Ray Flynn, and former Worcester Mayor Konstantina Lukes.

~snip~

The Massachusetts Democratic party said in a statement that it was not surprised by the endorsements because Flynn and Lukes are registered Democrats who "regularly support Republican candidates and Republican policies."

Brown's likely Democratic opponent in November is Harvard Law School professor Elizabeth Warren.

14. True dat. I still regard the day that Koch defeated Bella Abzug for the Dem mayoral nomination

As one of the great tragic moments in human history.

3. Ah the subservient press

Ray Flynn was a raving alcoholic during his years as mayor. The press, including the Glove, covered it up.

Aside from being the white guy who opposed busing, Ray had little to offer. He has always been a closet Republican in his policies.

4. Ray Flynn is a long time douchebag.

He is a rightwing catholic anti abortion fanatic. Supported Bush in 2000. He also backed Brown in 2010.

5. Yes he is..... but this time, his endorsement just may not work.

Elizabeth Warren is gaining traction in MA, and come September, October, when Clinton begins to campaign for her, and she is seen in MA with Obama, things might just turn around.

Did you hear that Scotty Brown's daughter is on Obamacare??? She is one of those "in betweens" (age, 23), and yet he did not support the ACA.

9. Didn't know about his daughter. Simply amazing, and disgusting. Slimy guy.

You wouldn't think Mass. would want something like Brown representing them in the Senate, when they had Ted Kennedy there. Doesn't make sense.

6. Although MA is an overwhelmingly Democratic state, there are a lot of

Ray Flynns and Konstantina Lukes. Massachusetts Democrats seem to be very willing to support Republicans. If they weren't there never would have been a Senator Scott Brown or Governors Mitt Romney, Paul Cellucci, and William Weld.

7. No real surprise. These are DINO.

There are a lot of RW who have a D after their name in MA, because they figure out long ago that they need the D to be elected.

12. Then again, I'm not sure he even has THAT justification.

Brown is as pro-choice as Warren(unless he's done a Romney recently).

11. Another reason EVERY progressive in Boston

SHOULD have backed Mel King over Flynn for mayor.
