Clintons candidacy to recruit candidates at every level of office, and employing a simple pitch: Democratic voter turnout tends to be higher in presidential election years and next year, the former secretary of states historic candidacy and formidable organizing efforts will have an especially catalytic effect. ...
Top party operatives say the promise of Clinton coattails is fueling a recruitment bonanza in down-ballot contests, with prospective candidates frequently citing Clintons presidential bid as an inducement to run. (19,460 posts)50 State strategy seems to be working out quite well. I wish we could take back the House but that would be a long stretch.

(7,865 posts)As long as those candidates are NOT Rahm Emmanuel style third way democrats then this is probably a good thing. We need progressives in office and I don't care whose coattails they ride on so long as they aren't Wallstreet Democrats.

(700 posts)When we are close to an election year some polls in red states such as TX and AZ give us cause for excitement, but by election day its the same old same old. I think we are quite a ways off before we can make traditional red states competitive. Ive lived in St Louis since graduating and moving from SC in 1992 and Im surprised how red Missouri has become.
No matter, if Hillary is our nominee I do think the excitement some of us have over her will bring in some coattails. With gerrymandering of districts in the House Im not so sure its enough, but the Senate sure is.
Ive said before and Ill say it again I am more concerned over Supreme Court nominees than anything else. We need to sway the court back left! Be it Clinton, Sanders or anyone else in our party, we must keep the White House!
