The House overwhelmingly passed legislation on Thursday that would allow Congress to review and potentially reject a nuclear deal with Iran.

The measure now heads to President Barack Obama’s desk for his signature. Just 19 Republicans voted against the bill, despite opposition from some House conservative who argued that bill was not strong enough. The final vote was 400-25.

“The American people are worried — and America’s allies are worried — that the White House will do anything to get,” a deal with Iran, Speaker John Boehner said after the vote. “So my colleagues and I have one goal: stop a bad deal. The bipartisan legislation the House passed today is the only way Congress will have that opportunity.”

The House passed the measure without amending it, and Obama indicated earlier this month that he would sign the bill if it was not drastically changed in the House.

Our Corporate Overlords need bogeymen to keep us worried, and they've spent a lot of time, energy and money building the specter of Iran. On the other hand, the TPP would be great for them, and 'fast track' is a modern test of their muscle. If they can pull off a massive trade treaty that subordinates nations to arbitration rules they've agreed to, without a national debate, and mostly in secret, there isn't much they can't do...
