Investigators 'believe there is fraud involved' in travel voucher case

Creative Creations, the Omaha event planning company that sold more than $1.2 million in worthless travel vouchers, has been ordered to turn over its financial records to investigators in the Douglas County Attorney’s Office.

At this point, investigators “believe there is fraud involved,” County Attorney Don Kleine said Tuesday, but authorities must be able to prove intent to deceive in order to file fraud charges.

Investigators subpoenaed the company’s business records this week in an effort to determine whether owner Patricia Urbanovsky intended to deceive customers or used the money for personal benefit.

“I know there’s a lot of people upset by this,” Kleine said. “We want to let people know we’re working on this. There’s a lot going on and a lot of agencies involved,” including the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
