Chris Christie's Approval Rating Hits All-Time Low in New Jersey

Source: Bloomberg

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low as he prepares for a likely presidential campaign, according to a Quinnipiac University poll published Monday.

Fifty-six percent of voters say they disapprove of the job the Republican is doing, compared to 38 percent who say they approve. That puts him farther into negative territory than he was in a January poll, when 46 percent said they approved and 48 percent said they disapproved. His high-water mark was 74 percent approval in a poll published in January 2013.

“The governor’s job approval hits a new low and voters think his presidential ambitions are distracting him from his day job,” said Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Maurice Carroll in a statement. “Besides, they don't think he’d be a good president.”

The survey also tested voters' perceptions of the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal that shook Christie's administration last year. New Jerseyans said 57 percent to 32 percent that Christie did not order the lane closures that caused the jam, but they say 53 percent to 38 percent that he was aware of his aides' actions.

bush, the country voted for that travesty twice, and that almost drove us to a depression, killed millions in a war based on a lie, and made the SC turn against women, civil rights, and for citizens united.

People have no one to blame but themselves. We all are paying for the consequences of those actions. The question is will people ever learn?

I am not so confident. People tend to make the same mistakes over and over again.

With few exceptions, the voting decisions in this country have actually gotten worse, and the general vibes right now favor republican stupidity.

I have pretty much thrown the towel in.

The 90s were bad, they were just complete jackasses toward Bill Clinton.

But, they TRIED to put the superficial veneer of "constitutionalism" to it.

They had their "principles" and made the effort to rationalize their bullshit.

Today, they just wake up, look at the news and start screaming about things, even if it contradicts the position they had the day before.

They don't even try to put a pretense to it, they just are mean spirited and outright push their insane agendas out and out.

And, this country just does not care, they have MORE power in DC,the judiciary branch and state capitals today than they did 25 years ago.

WORSE, the democratic party is just short of completely worthless ... Republicans are bolder and more aggressive than ever because they get away with it 95% of the time and democrats are almost literally no where to be found.

We are in a BAD spot.

the Supreme Court handed Bush the First Presidency and the second was the result of voter fraud in Ohio. New Jersey residents just flat out voted for this guy twice.

With Corzine when he ran for reelection so they stayed home. That's how Christie got in.And when Christie ran for reelection only 28% of the voters bothered to vote once again the democrats were not energized because the NJ democratic party is so fucked up in my state it's ridiculous.A lot of the democratic party leadership supported Christie for reelection and now most of them can't stand him since bridge gate. .So all this shit you hear from the mainstream media that a lot of democrat voters favored him is bullshit.I heard him the other day lying his ass off about how he works with the State democrats in the legislation and senate. This is not true either everytime the State legislation and state Senate ran by the democrats passes bills he veto's them.

Because Philly is the S. Jersey media market, we hear about all the corruption there in both parties. It's pretty ugly and sad. And yup, because of the issues surrounding Corzine, that's definitely why Christie got in the first time... And Christie made sure to explicitly schedule the U.S. Senate Special Election (for Launtenberg's seat, which Booker won) on a different date from the general, just so he could further depress the Dem turnout for the gubernatorial election (knowing the Newark turnout would be higher with Booker on the Senate ticket and he couldn't have that when he was on the ticket against a Democrat for governor).
