Two fatally shot after van strikes toddler in Milwaukee

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - A Milwaukee driver was fatally shot, along with a teenager at the scene, after he hit a toddler who had run into the street, police said on Monday.

The 41-year-old driver struck a 2-year-old on the city's northwest side at about 5 p.m. local time on Sunday, a police spokesman said.

The man was shot and killed when he got out of his van to check on the child, who died at the scene, according to authorities. Police said they believe the alleged shooter was provoked by the toddler being struck.

A 15-year-old boy, who was the toddler's brother, was also shot at the scene during the incident. It is unclear whether the teenager, who later died, was a passenger in the van or a bystander, according to police.

There should have been more armed citizens on scene. That way, everybody could have shot each other, and we wouldn't have to have all sorts of complicated inquires into who was responsible, etc. As long as the fire department arrives quickly and hoses away the blood before it gets all sticky.

There needs to be a good guy with a gun. This would ensure justice. They (the good guys) should be required to wear white hats so's we could easily recognize them during any incidents of gunfire.

How can we know this? Because they were involved in a shooting where somebody not on the approved victim list ended up being shot (as far as we know).

Now, if we just had a way to identify those irresponsible gun owners before they shoot someone, without inconveniencing those heroic, upright, responsible gun owners who would never use their firearms in a dangerous way.

Just a crazed gun nut assassinating two innocent people.

A toddler that no one was watching ran into the street and was struck and killed. The man whose van hit the boy got out, upset, and tried to help. A teenager from a nearby house also tried to help. Both were suddenly shot on the spot.

The driver, Archie Brown, Jr., was shot in the head and died immediately. Brown, the father of four, was on his way to Home Depot with a friend. A witness from a neighboring home, Barbara Sprewer, estimated he was traveling only 25-30 miles an hour when the toddler darted in front of him. She said: "Nobody was watching the baby."

Maybe you should stop imagining fantasies to warp reality to fit your world view. That's definitive stupidity.
