Ann Romney: ‘I Love The Fact That There Are Women Out There Who Don’t Have A Choice’Last edited Tue Apr 24, 2012, 12:08 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Source: ThinkProgress
In an emotional speech about the difficulty of motherhood and life on the campaign trail, Ann Romney used an odd choice of words to discuss mothers who are forced to work while raising their children. Ann Romney was at the center of a national discussion recently after a Democratic consultant charged that the would-be future first lady couldn’t possibly understand the plight of working mothers because she had the luxury to stay home and devote herself full time to raising her kids. The Romney campaign fired back, accusing Democrats of lacking respect for stay at home moms. The issue was largely dismissed after a few days as a ginned-up “silly season” controversy, but Ann Romney’s comments last night at the Connecticut Republican Party’s Prescott Bush Awards Dinner could potentially reignite the issue. After discussing how she understands the challenges mothers face, Romney said, according to BuzzFeed: Romney alluded to the fact that not all women can stay at home saying, “I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids. Thank goodness that we value those people too. And sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us.” Read more: http://thinkprogress.org/special/2012/04/24/469896/ann-romney-women-work/

Every election Mitt has run in MA has tried to keep her away from the media. Only people in the Boston area can understand her mindless comment when Mitt took on Ted for the Senate, when she said that West Roxbury is the nice part of Roxbury. I'm hoping they keep her out front on this "woman's work" non-story because the longer it goes the more we may hear from the "help". I'm still waiting for someone, anyone to ask her how much "help" she hired to actually do the work. The media has been shy about confronting her or at the very least Mitt about who really did all this at home work we keep hearing about

What's the point of being rich if there are no poor people forced to choose between cleaning your toilets and going hungry and homeless? If no women were forced to be mothers and work then she might as well be living in some god awful hell hole like Denmark where common people would treat her like she's no better than they are.
That's why we have the economic inequality we do. It doesn't make moral, economic or political sense. It's not sustainable. But some of the people with money really really get off on it. Maybe it's like sky diving. The small chance of a 'Marie Antoinette' outcome makes the money a little more enjoyable. There could also be some secret desire for such punishment because they know the wealth is undeserved. |

Your point is why the wealthy love doing business in 3rd World nations. They love seeing abject poverty as they stroll down the street.
I spent some time in Bangalore, India, and I was taken aback at how people had no real problem seeing the abject poverty right next to luxury hotels. |

71. Why is she talking about the difficulty of motherhood and campaigning? Are her kids grown?
|
Beyond the awful thing that she said and how utterly out of touch the Romney's are, WHY is she giving a speech about how hard it is to be a mother and be on the campaign trail? Is she packing their lunch every day as they head off to work?
They are trying to sell her as "super mom!" But American Moms who have no choice but to work while they raise their kids (thanks to republican and corporate policies,) don't see her as a hero. What we really want to know, is how her domestic staff juggles work and family. |
