Man sought in daughter's abduction; girlfriend dead
Fayetteville, N.C. Authorities in Cumberland County were searching early Tuesday for a man who is wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend and the kidnapping of their 2-year-old child.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Alexander Velaya, 33, shot his girlfriend, 22-year-old Marianna Latisha Reyes, of 2227 Waco Drive, just after midnight before stealing a car and taking his daughter, 2-year-old Juliana Reyes.
Authorities say Velaya, a Salvadoran national, and Reyes could be in a burgundy Toyota, but weren't sure which direction they could be traveling.
Cumberland County authorities said the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons is working to put out an Amber Alert for Julianna.
