Ernie Chambers faces criticism for comparing police to ISIS

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Paul Hammel

LINCOLN — State Sen. Beau McCoy of Omaha, saying that he was “appalled,” called Wednesday on fellow Sen. Ernie Chambers to apologize for comparing police to ISIS, the group that has beheaded journalists and others during its takeover of parts of Syria and Iraq.

“I think Senator Chambers owes those who wear the uniform of law enforcement an apology,” McCoy said during a speech on the floor of the Legislature.

On Friday afternoon, during a committee hearing on a concealed gun bill, Chambers, said that “my ISIS is the police” because they can get away with shooting innocent people, according to a recording by Lincoln radio station KFOR.

“The police are licensed to kill us. Children. Old people,” the 77-year-old senator said. “Nobody from ISIS ever terrorized us as a people as the police do us daily.”

Sen. Ernie Chambers is one of the BEST D's in the NE Legislature. EVERY R or conservative rag is jumping all over this.

It was ok however when Gov. Walker compared union members to ISIS.

Yet Scott Walker compares organized labor to ISIS with impunity. Earth_First Mar 2015 #2
The in your face irony of the Walker parallel is lost on the MSM. Unions are leftist, police are seen as rightist.....so.... Fred Sanders Mar 2015 #4
