Iran regime hangs women on eve of International Women's Day

Source: NCRI

NCRI - At least two women were hanged to death on the eve of the International women's day in a prison in Iran.

One of the prisoners identified as Mehrnoosh Qavasi, in her fifties, was executed after serving many years in prison.

Before being transferred to Qezel Hesar Prison in the city of Karaj for execution, the two victims were held in infamous Qarchak (Gharchak) women's prison in the city of Varamin where conditions are harsh.

The two women were hanged with 10 other prisoners in Qezel Hesar prison as part of new wave of executions in cities across the country.

Iran is about 370. Iraq @200. Saudi Arabia @80. US @45. Yemen @40. This ranking is for judicial executions. If we count extrajudicial executions and military killings, I believe we move up the rankings, considerably.

I'd be interested if anyone has figures for that more complete measure of lethality.

We have an exhaustive appeals process that takes decades unlike any other county.

As far as I know, we are the only country where the Supreme Court will vote to execute you on a technicality even though the Justices are aware that the condemned is likely innocent. See, eg, http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2012/05/yes-america-we-have-executed-an-innocent-man/257106/

BTW: Add up the many "collateral damage" co-executions we carry out abroad. We likely exceed China in our global targeted killings and collateral casualties. No appeals.

US generally ranks pleasing the House of Saud regarding anything involving Iran but their Woman's rights record ranks among the worst of the worst.

Regarding Iran's government probably rank below 100 in my personal country ranking & feel the US should stop allying with human rights violators especially since they often bring up human rights in badmouthing their long term rivals but as bad as they are, the US manages to oversell Iran and they also provided aid to the brutally oppressive Iran backed Iraqi government which mostly found their way in the hands of the unregulated Iran-backed Shia militias who ethnically cleanse neighborhoods, torture Sunni populations. Often shortly after IS wins a battle or does the same thing themselves.

This nuke talk or sanctioning them specifically over nukes when Iran does have a legitimate energy independence operating, I think 85% is powered by renewable energy. Whatever it is about, it is nonsense.

In any case, I certainly condemn Iran over the way they treat its people. Out of all their blasphemy laws, Iran is the only one that actually makes an exception that bad mouthing Sunni Islam is A-OK.

And we have states in this nation which use the death penalty today. Hardly reason not to negotiate a way to contain nuclear weapons.
